Acura TLX in Russia

It seems that the TLX is the third vehicle launched in Russia, after the MDX and RDX. In fact, the Acura brand was apparently only launched in Russia this year:

- 2014 Moscow Motor Show: Looking at the bad reputation of the New NSX is an idiosyncrasy of the Russian market | Responsejp (New model car / motor show )

Acura made its first exhibit of its middle class sedan "TLX" in Russia at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show. The exhibition of all the line-up which includes the "RDX", "MDX" , and etc shows its enthusiasm for the Russian market.

- AUTOSTAT | About 260 Acura SUVs found owners in Russia for two months of sales

About 260 Acura SUVs found owners in Russia for two months of sales

Dealerships of Acura “Autorus” and “FK Motors” in Moscow sold 146 crossovers of premium brand at the end of May. This figure exceeds by 30% the results for April of 2014, which became the first month of sales of Acura in Russia. At the moment, Russian owners have already 258 cars MDX and RDX.

In the Russian market 7-seater crossover MDX is offered in two configurations - Techno and Advance. In a modification Techno the premium SUV is equipped with LED-headlamps with auto-leveling, LED daytime running lights and fog lamps, keyless entry system, electronic parking brake, front and rear parking sensors, rear-view mirrors with electric, heating and memory function, power moon roof and liftgate and 19-inch cast aluminum wheels. Price for 7-seater MDX Techno starts from 2 million 549 thousand rubles.

In the Advance version compared with the modification Techno the premium crossover MDX receives an additional all-sky cameras, adaptive cruise control ACC, finishing access perforated genuine leather MILANO, ventilated front seats with automatic cooling control, 2-way lumbar support for front passenger seat with electric, inlays in wood (Olive Ash), sun rear side curtain and rear entertainment console with inputs HDMI, VIDEO and AUX. Also in this configuration, in addition to those active safety systems that were listed in the Techno version, SUV is equipped with a collision avoidance system CMBS and indicator of “blind spots” BSI. Price of Advance modification starts from 2 million 899 thousand rubles.

In the Russian market premium Acura RDX crossover is offered in a single configuration Techno. Compact SUV is equipped with xenon headlamps with auto-leveling, keyless entry system, electric tailgate, rain and light sensors, 18-inch cast aluminum wheels and rear-view mirrors, heated, electric and memory function. In configuration Techno compact crossover is available from 2 million 199 thousand rubles.

It also seems that Acura is the third best selling new brand that was launched in 2014:

- Best Selling Cars ? Matt's blog » Russia

The main event in the brands ranking is the arrival of Nissan’s new low-cost brand Datsun in 38th position with 520 sales and 0.3% share. Russia is the 4th (and last) country where Datsun (re)launched this year after India, South Africa (with the Go) and Indonesia (with the Go+), and the first one to see the on-DO sedan hit the road. The on-DO is a rebadged Lada Granta produced in the AvtoVAZ Togliatti plant since 14 July 2014. It’s a good start for the brand: after just one month of sales it already positions itself as the third best-selling new manufacturer to launch in 2014 in Russia below Changan (785 units in 7 months) and Acura (551 sales in 6 months) and above Brilliance, JAC and Alfa Romeo. Its September score places Datsun just below such established brands as Jeep, Fiat (both at 678 sales) and the premium arm of the Nissan stable, Infiniti (639).

Yeah well, they need to freaking launch Acura in Japan already... they literally just rebadged the RL(X) again for the new Honda Legend.... same car (a little better) same grille even, with a Honda badge.... yet they're trying to establish their own identity as a brand. You'd never see Lexus rebadging one of their cars as a Toyota, or Infiniti rebadging as a Nissan in 2014 (at least not that I'm aware of) I'll be really pissed if they rebadge the TLX as an Accord.

OUCH! That is really stupid.... just when they talk about making the Acura brand distinct from Honda, blah blah blah, then they do something ridiculous like this.... does the right hand talk to the left hand!?

^^^^^

Until Acura is smart enough to establish a global presence of Acura brand/dealerships, it is futile for Acura to set itself apart from the econo Honda brand; especially more so that there will be many more countries selling "Honda" NSX than countries selling "Acura" NSX.

On the bright side, launching the Legend there has finally resulted in a new wheel and body kit option for RLX owners (granted just two front spoilers and door moldings). And it looks they were smart about not offering the FWD version there to avoid destroying the previous model's legacy.

But I agree it's pretty lazy of them to not even bother changing the grille or give it clear corners like they did with past RL's and TSX's

Can anyone tell me what is the accessory covering the upper part of the seat back just below the headrest in the lower right picture? I can't enlarge it enough to figure it out. Appears to be a upper back support that I feel should have been incorporated into the padding of the TLX to keep the protruding headrest from constantly interfering with the back of my head.

Be interesting to see how the press and current RLX owners react to this maneuver.

Can't help with translation, but seems to be just an upper seat cover (which are popular in asia) and costs ~$345 USD...

Guys Face it. Acura is only for America where branding matters the most. You guys won't be caught dead in an Accord but TSX was the Accord for rest of the world but America. Now that Accord is same all through out the world the TLX has a lot more in common with American Accord. I went with Accord Sport over TLX.

Looks like the slipcover is on the headrest too.

Current RLX owners wish Acura would just bring back the Legend name in the U.S. After all, the car we call the RLX is REALLY the 5G Legend.

Some of us are happy that Mugen is now on board, and that Honda has some JDM accessories. Some (OK, me), want a Mugen rear spoiler, that nice Modulo wood-enhanced steering wheel, and maybe the lower side strakes.

EDIT: Mugen Legend!

Can you imagine what Mugen could do for the TLX?
