Grandpa here. I am at about 6,500 km (memory fails since I last saw the number) and 40% remaining. Expect to get to at least 8,000 before my free service.

^^ Free service? Was Acura offering a "free maintenance program"?

Grandpa number two checking in!

I'm at 5,700 miles (not sure what a km is - some sort of British measurement perhaps?) and holding steady at 50% At this rate i won't hit my first service until mid Summer.

The Canadian offering is/was free maintenance for the first 2 years. That is likely 2 or 3 service visits for me, and those are likely the cheap A1 services.

Wow! I got here late to the party.

I think I remember going in around 7,000 miles (11265.4 km ?).

I went over 10,000 miles last Monday.

Sort of British…sort of most of the rest of the world 1 kilometre = .621 of a mile.

the maintenance minder is not purely distance-based, but it counts a number of parameters such as cold starts, short trips, etc. So if you do long distance driving, you're likely get more "miles" between service than if you only use the car to go to church every Sunday in the summer.

I don't go by the MID because I drive so much. I'm over 18,000 miles and my car is less than 6 months old! Even if I'm not due for an oil change, I try to coordinate my oil changes with my tire rotations for convenience. My first oil change was at 7,500 miles and I was still at 30%. The next was at 15,000 at 30%. This car uses oil very efficiently.

Pshaw! I prefer to stick with the time tested units of measurement and not some "flash in the pan" fly-by-night system that will surely fade in a few years.

In fact I'm converting my TLX software to recognize furlongs as the base unit. Today on my trip into work I got 272 FPG (furlongs per gallon) - not bad eh?

5100 kms @60%. All winter driving so far if course. Longer summer trips will mean probably 14k for first change. I checked oil level yesterday. Hasnt used any noticeable amount.

I pulled the plug and went in at 8300 kms (~5100 miles for you Southerners!). I still had 20% on the MID
I believe Acura used a synthetic for my A1. I'm still not sure about the 0-20 switch. I think Acura went to a thinner oil to improve mileage, whereas I would prefer a heavier weight for long term protection. Any thoughts about going to a 10-20 or 10-30 oil?

Even my dad's TL-S from 2002 had 5W20 requirement, the 20 weight isn't something new. And isn't it cold in Toronto? I'm surprised you're thinking about a 10-20 rather than a 0-20 or 5-20 at worst.

LOL. The other day I got 26 nautical miles per imperial gallon, or 21 nautical miles per US gallon. I believe the US stands for Unusual Statistic…...

I'm currently at 2700 miles and have 40% oil life remaining. Of course, I've had the car for 6 months. I've got no idea how it calculates this, to be honest...

I think I win the title for least driven. Bought my car on Valentine's Day and as of today, I have just under 1,000. I put more than half of that over the weekend, and I'm still at %100. I don't know if I'll have to do the service before I pay the car off or not, but I don't think I'll wait till I get to %10 or less.

No prize for you. I picked up mine on the same day, and I'm about 900 miles. However, no trips as yet, just mainly around town stuff. My oil indicator is at 80% (must drop in 20% increments), but I'm sure that's due to stop and go driving.

And you will have to do the service before you pay it off since the service is due every year, regardless of what the indicator says.

By the way, I'm looking forward to the first road trip - car seems to be wonderful for highway cruising!

Check that - I just looked again and it's at 90%. I didn't think it dropped in 20% increments. Sorry about that.

I got a letter in the mail from my Acura dealer and they told me to get A1 service (mainly oil change) at the 5K mile mark. They say the first oil change needs to be a little early due to the engine break-in period.

I only drove about 4k miles since last December. I checked the oil yesterday and it looked brown (definitely not black) and felt fine too.

^^ Ignore...I would go by the service minder (or the 1 year mark...whichever comes first). The dealer is looking to make an extra buck at your expense, in my opinion anyway.

For us southerners who didn't get 2 years maintenance (nice deal up north), I'm curious what everyone's A1 cost them? This is my first acura, just want to see what I'm in for on a simple oil and filter if I have the dealer do it.

Thanks

Agree and I am only gonna get my 1st oil changed by the service reminder. I was told the first oil change is free. But I am not sure that has to be according to the service reminder. BMW will surely charge you if you come in earlier than indicated by the service reminder.

If synthetic oil with filter, my dealer charges $75. But I am not sure if they would charge more for V6.
