2016 Acura MDX and TLX Named Best Cars for the Money from U.S. News & World Report
Feb 9, 2016 - TORRANCE, Calif.
The 2016 Acura MDX and TLX have received 2016 Best Cars for the Money awards from U.S. News & World Report. The 2016 MDX was named the Best Luxury 3-Row SUV for the Money and the 2016 TLX earned the Best Upscale Midsize Car for the Money distinction.
The MDX, the best-selling 3-row luxury SUV of all time, has been lauded with the Best Cars for the Money award in the 3-Row SUV category for four consecutive years, while the TLX has received the Best Cars for the Money distinction for the second straight year, earning the honor in every year since the midsize luxury sedan was introduced to the market in 2014.
"Having our best-selling luxury SUV and performance sedan earn the Best Cars for the Money distinction in consecutive years demonstrates our ability to consistently provide our customers with outstanding performance, quality and reliability," said Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager of Acura.
The Best Cars for the Money methodology combines quality and value data into a composite score. Within each of the classes, the vehicle with the highest score is named the Best Car for the Money. Quality is measured by the overall score a vehicle achieved in the U.S. News car rankings at the time the awards are published. The rankings, updated regularly, compare cars on the basis of safety, reliability and a consensus of industry experts' opinions. Value is measured by a combination of a vehicle's five-year total cost of ownership provided by Vincentric, LLC and the average price paid for the vehicle at the time the awards are published, as calculated by TrueCar.com.
The 2016 Acura MDX, TLX and other winners can be found at Best Cars for the Money Awards 2016 | U.S. News Best Cars.

Best Luxury Brand: Acura
Luxury brands don't typically like to talk about value, but Acura owners love to. Acura vehicles offer more features for the money than most of their luxury-brand competitors, they're often more fuel-efficient and they enjoy excellent resale values. It all adds up to total ownership costs that can be many thousands less than those of Acura's European competitors, especially. And that money buys a similarly superior dealership experience, which is becoming a bigger and more appealing part of luxury-car ownership. Acura can keep talking about performance, technology and safety, and let this 5-Year Cost to Own Award do all the talking when it comes to value.

There are four lights!
My TLX is my first Acura, and I'm happy for the most part. The only thing I didn't like is the lack of a spare tire, and then the fact that I had to spend money to get one. When it's time to get rid of my wife's Outback (which won't be for awhile), I'll probably put her in a MDX.

I drove my sister's 2016 C300 today and came away feeling really underwhelmed. The 4 cylinder is just so meh to me; the BMW 4 banger is much better. Also, while the interior design is very nice on the C class, the switchgear didn't feel great (the parts in my TLX feel better) and hell, even the TLX's doors close with a more authoritative thunk, something Mercedes cars have been better at in the past. I think that my TLX even drives better, despite being a FWD car. The Honda J series V6 is such a gem of an engine. It will be very sad to see these go away . Her transmission also behaves similar to mine (slight jerkiness in traffic, low speeds, etc). All in all, I'm very glad I decided to purchase my TLX. I felt a bit envious of her car simply cause its a Mercedes, but I realized that I have the better vehicle for my tastes and needs.

Perfectly happy with ours. Coming from a Lexus IS250, we appreciate the roominess, comfort, quietness and smooth ride. And yes, the affordable price and maintenance costs are also nice
