So I took my '15 with 95k miles in for some service, and the inspection revealed an oil pump gasket that is leaking a little. Video inspection link sent via text was pretty cool. Anyways, they said that, and it looked like it obviously isn't a catastrophic gasket failure as it wasn't that messy in the area, but someday it'll need to be addressed- with an estimate being around $2000 to get there and replace the gasket! Yikes for such a small thing, but with big consequences if it were to start spurting volumes. This is a first failure of this sort I've ever experienced out of dozens of vehicles, including Jeep, Chevy and Ford products LOL This is my fifth Honda/Acura, and the others had zero issues. Just waiting for the big end bearing to start talking ….
Has anyone here experienced this oil pump leak themselves, or am I just lucky?
Pic is a grab from their video whilst underneath taking a look around.
Can't see anything.
Regardless, oil pumps are super easy to re-seal / replace, provided the motor is out of the car. I wouldn't want to do one on the car. gl with the stealership.
