Well, here are the results: http://www.world-challenge.com/image...lts-1---1-.PDF
They both had a good start but it didn't turn out too good after a few laps. One car had suspension damage the other I have no idea what happened to it. Ryan Eversley got a best standing start award. Waiting for all the interviews to be posted on youtube. Sucks I didn't have time to watch the first race.
The good news is that in the TC/TCA/TCB class, my favorite Shea Holbrook did well with her Civic Si.

Contact for both cars. PD's #42 is out due to damage not repairable at the track.
Rain in the forecast for today and the TLX-GT is the only AWD car on the grid. Let's see what Eversley can do in the #43 car!

Indeed, considering where they qualified in the dry, their only hope is for a monsoon.
Edited to add: I would admit that Circuit of the Americas seems to be a pretty fast course, maybe St. Petersburg will suit the TLX better?

St. Petersburg is a road course, combining a nearby runway. Probably a little slower since the circuit of the Americas was primarily designed for F1 and that is fast! Lots of walls around the road course in St. Pete's and a potential 4-wide on the runway, probably benefiting Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche. Brakes! Better get them nicely serviced and stay away from the walls
(yes, monsoons help shawd )
PS. As much as I would like to think of this as a great effort on behalf of Honda/Acura to win races... something inside me tells me the objective here is to develop the twin turbo J engine and not to really race the car. After all, Honda has a long tradition using race tracks to develop their engines in real races. Bonus if they win (and they have a few).

It did today, thus the result! But the weekend looks dry. Maybe there is some evil strategy going on here
Surprisingly, the McLaren is doing well in the rain too. That must be some harry potter suspension and traction control setting they have on that car.

^^ If its dry, it will be interesting to see what they can do from the front. We know they should get a good launch, if they can lead into the 1st corner, maybe they can hold them at bay?

Thats what I was thinking too. But there is a long runway straight involved here and that McLaren can get up and go! However, I am also keeping an eye on that Nismo/Nissan GT-R GT3, because its the only one that can get on full power mid-turn and stay on the road at the turn exit.
Race starts in ~1 hour, hope the live streaming works (link: World Challenge TV)
PS. Advice to Peter: try not to bump into anyone... this isn't a demolition derby

Strange win for #43 TLX GT... finished #1 under yellow flag. Half the race was under yellow, not much racing went on. I kinda get the feeling the drivers were a bit scared of the walls so they didn't push too much.
Well, at least the TLX GT got one win... (congrats to the engineers for building a race car for... ummm, the rain!)
Lets see what happens tomorrow for race 2 at St-Pete's (Sunday 10:45am).

^^ sorry for the spoiler
It wasn't much of a race. Only thing Ryan did was to drive safely. Before the second yellow flag that pretty much ended the race under caution, the Porsche following him also played safe and tailgated him to the end. Sadly the chain reaction of crashes at the back of the starting lineup, at the start, ruined the entire race. Even though I am sure the track people were professional dealing with the mess on the race track, it took them way too long to removed the damaged cars and spilled fluids from the track. They should have made the call to stop the race/clock and do a rolling start after cleaning the mess.
The GTS race is on, see a bunch of mustangs going around the track Pirelli World Challenge Live on USTREAM: . Racing

(spoiler alert below lol)
Ryan Eversley finishes 7th after starting 8th and Peter Cunningham finishes 14th after starting 22nd. Not that they did anything to improve their position, except drive around and watch others in front of them either crash or spin out. Once again, half the race time was under yellow so not much was going on for half hour except watching the track crew clean up crashes. Complete results here: http://www.world-challenge.com/image...rovisional.PDF
BTW, here is the video from yesterday's crash showing what happened at the start.

The TLX GT (I guess both of them) in Long Beach, CA, this weekend. Its a street course in downtown Long Beach, very tight course!
The good news: Peter Cunningham had the fastest practice lap of the GT class today. Bad news: clear skies all weekend... darn!!!
I think based on the schedule I read (unless I read it wrong) there is only one race on Sunday, 7:05 p.m ET. Qualifying is on Saturday, 11:30 a.m ET.
Hope the live streaming works here: World Challenge TV
Some teams are hosting "garage tours" today and tomorrow... wish I was there!

Just in case anyone is following this, (even though I kinda suspect not) today's qualifying results are here: http://www.world-challenge.com/image...-Q-Session.PDF
Ryan got 6th spot and Peter 23rd. Maybe this is the result of some kind of strategy or maybe not. We'll see how it goes tomorrow but I think the McLarens and that Ferrari from Toronto are not easy to beat!

Thanks for the pics. Nice to see Peter and Ryan finishing in the top 10 without incident.
But this race apparently was very controversial.

Next stop is Birmingham, AL, April 24-26 at Barber Motorsports Park.
While watching videos on YouTube I notice that it is a very fast race track.
Also I hear Noah is building an Arc out there Yep, they get some freaky rain storms, so lets hope it rains like never before!
PS. The one after that I'll go to north of Toronto, hopefully for the Sunday race. Cleaning lenses and charging camera batteries as we speak

Saturday race at Barber Motorsports Park:
Somehow Peter started 12th and eventually finished 8th (in one piece too!). Ryan started 5th and finished 14th (issues with under steer). More controversy in the final lap. Something to do with the 50 min mark and how they time the race... too complicated. Win went to a Nissan GT-R. A bit surprised the best aero cars were left behind, like the McLaren. Its a fast track that favors aero advantaged cars.
Full results here: http://www.world-challenge.com/image...-GTCup--1-.pdf
Sunday race starts at 11:28 am EST. No rain, but then again you never know.
The image that is emerging this year (after 6 races) is that things are unpredictable. Unlike last year when the Cadillacs dominated. This year its anyone's guess. First, cars have improved a lot and second some newbi drivers are way too aggressive causing accidents.
