2015 Acura TLX
Hi guys just found this forum yesterday actually, I've been looking at the new Acura Tlx coming out and i had a few questions. I am either debating between the new acura or a 2014-15 Nissan rogue (complete opposites lol)
For starters how do Acuras in general FWD handle in the snow? I would love to get the AWD but, can't deal with that pricetag at the moment.
Are Acuras more affordable to maintain compared to some other luxury models?
I also wanted to know does the sunroof come standard? I wasn't sure about that and I keep seeing pictures of them all with a sunroof.
Hope someone can help, hope this is in the right section to

Hi N.Y.C.H and welcome. I have had a 2001, 2006 and 2010 all FWD TLs. They all were fine in the snow here in Ontario and I never use snow tires. AWD drive mostly helps you get going faster but doesn't help you to stop quicker so I never felt the need for it.
For the most part I only had to do routine maintenance so not that expensive. In each case I traded before needing new tires and generally needed only one brake job. These cars got close to 100K km (62K mi).
I believe the sunroof was standard in each one although I didn't get the entry level car. Then Canadian configurations weren't always the same as U.S. models.

According to most of the website data you can find Acura's in general have lower maintenance costs than other luxury makes yes (it seems that Audi is the highest from my perspective). According to KBB.com and their 5 year cost of ownership calculator the V6 TL has about the same maintenance costs for the first 5 years as the Rogue. I'm guessing the V6 TLX would be similar to the TLX.
From what I can tell the power moonroof is standard on all models...it for sure is standard on the V6 models - but the build and price feature should be up on Acura.com by Tuesday so you should know by Tuesday for sure.
I don't live in snow country so others will be able to comment on this better but from my years of reading reviews and talking to people it seems that a good set of snow tires is more helpful in snow than AWD is. So if you're concerned about driving in the snow, live in snow country, an investment in snow tires would probably be a better use of your money than AWD.

www.tlxthrill.com will show you all the options on the various models. (Click on the little menu icon on the upper left hand corner, then click Tech Specs).
You will see the Moonroof option is standard across all 3 TLX's (I4, V6 FWD and V6 SH-AWD).
Generally speaking with Acura you can expect the car to be very reliable and maintenance is not very expensive. You could probably take your car to a Honda dealer for regular maintenance and pay less than at your Acura dealer - but of course missing out on some of the Acura dealership experience (loaner cars, free donuts, etc). Not all Honda dealers will do this though.
I think the car will do just fine in the snow with All Season tires or Snow tires as long as you're careful and don't drive crazy.

Thanks for the replies really debating on what to get, it would actually be my first car, and most of my family has suvs so not sure really how well cars do in the snow which is my main concern, hopefully the insurance doesn't kill me each month either lol Loving the white TLX

My first response...have a 2006 tsx about 10 on it. It will become my daughters when I take delivery of my fathom blue tlx. It does fine in the snow, easily as good as any other FWD auto. Not as good as my AWD 2010 MDX. Reliability never an issue, routine maintenance, 2 sets of tires and brakes. Sun roof/moon roof is standard. I have been driving Acura since 2002 each for at least 8 years. All I can say is mine have been bullet proof.
