Heard of them? Yes.

Made well? Cheap, cast.

High Quality? Made in China; in the same place they make Ramen Noodles.

This member has them on his car,if you want proper feedback speak to someone who owns the product.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=837470&page=3

send him a pm with your questions.

Forged rims are the best you can get if you are willing to shell out the dough, however many people including auto manufacturers run cast wheels, keep an eye on the weight and make sure the are JWL certified. An even better level of certification is TUV but mostly apply to European manufacturers.

^^ you are welcome, I noticed you are doing a lot of research on rims before you purchase, always a good thing, make sure you put equal effort in purchasing tires.

OX Rims - What else is out there

Thanks for the feedback.

What else is out there besides forged rims. I am working on my MBA I dont have that kind of cash.

Besides TSW what would you suggest are solid rims for an 2009 TL Acura FWD? Can you give me list of five solid companies?

Tsw, pay attention to the Nurburgring, lightweight and reasonably priced.

Stance and Ruffino, similarly styled to Vossens.

Enkei

RonJon, original fitment, no hubcentric rings required and reasonable offset

OP, I have been very happy with my XO wheels. Like I said in my PM they haven't had any real tests yet (i.e. potholes) but I haven't had any issues. I'd also like to note that my 20" wheels with 255/35 tires weighed the same as the 19" HPT (wheels & 245/40 tires) so they're not lightweight but not really heavy either.

I wasn't willing or able to spend several thousand dollars for a set of wheels so forged were out of the question. Unlike some on these boards I'm on a budget and have other priorities on life, which I'm assuming matches up with your lifestyle.

My budget was @ $2k for everything and I got the XO's and Hankook V4's for very close to that. I haven't regretted it at all and would make the same choice again if I could...though I'd consider going with a staggered set so I could have the deep concave in the rear.

Good luck!

just bare in mind.. only thing keeping your car to the ground is the 4 wheels you have on.. and personally.. i dont think cast wheels will keep me safe..

aftermarket cast wheels are far more prone to cracking vs oem or forged.. or even rotary forged.

OP, I can assure you that many people have purchased cast wheels and never had any issues with cracking. What is considered "safe" to one person may not be to another...just look at the number of people on the forums that run stretched tires as an example.

I had a set of 18" ICW Racing wheels on my last car. I paid $850 to have them shipped to my door with tires mounted and balanced. I had them on for years and never had a single issue and they were obviously cheap cast wheels.

Op,there is no question that forged rims are the better way to go,i believe other members and myself can all agree on that.
Having said that,it does not mean that all aftermarket rims are unsafe,we are not talking about cheap replica rims, which no one here supports.
As far as safety,Ucf-bronco is spot on,people will stretch their tires, run significant poke, use over sized rims and ridiculous width all of which imo can create dangerous driving condition's,however they will be applauded because it is cool.

After all your research it will be up to you to make the final choice, based on all the info you have received i am certain it will be an educated one.

please do know that just because nothing went wrong with the wheels you bought doesnt mean that others havent had bad experiences.. We all know cast wheels are cheap.. easy to make.. but if you put a cast wheel through a pothole.. and you put the same exact wheel but forged through a pothole.. you will know which one will crack and break off and which one will bend and still be intact..

there is a reason why forged is soo expensive... ive had friends drive on on cast, believes that cast is just as good.. then have it crack on them over a pothole.. end up with 10k in damages because he hit a wall... wheel seperated from hub..

now im not saying that it doesnt happen to forged wheels.. if you read what i wrote.. i specifically said cast are far more PRONE to happening..

Here is what happens in a accident with a cast wheel, it shatters.. leaving you grounded with your rotors on the floor.

keep in mind the driver side had no damage.. the impact was not hard.. the wheels just shattered.. and guess what.. its vossens..

when it comes down to it.. if the aftermarket wheel is not TUV certified.. i wouldnt buy it.. im even skeptical about running my iforged that i have had sitting at home for 2yrs.. just because it was made with no TUV certification..

ps.. having a tire blow on you and having your wheel completely come off the hub brings you into two way different scenarios.... you can still pull to the side with a blown tire.. but not with 3 wheels.. or 2.. or 1.... so stretch tires is ok.. you can still ride on the rim..

to add on to that.. most aftermarket wheel companies can get JWL and VIA.. but TUV is the most rigorous and true test..

also you will rarely see a TUV certification on a cast wheel..

^^^ I understand that. I was simply trying to show the OP the other side of the coin, speaking from my experience. I think the examples you're laying out are worst case scenarios...it's not everyday someone's cast wheel cracks and breaks off (especially non-replicas). I've been running them for years with no issues and I felt it was important to communicate that.

true.. if you decide to drive it within speed limits on perfect paved roads.. then yes, by all means go get cheap cast wheels.. but the world isnt perfect.. and no one is as well..

but let me say this.. all you need is 1 wheel to go bad to total your car.. the 4g isnt the most expensive car but surely its not the cheapest as well.. its a heavy car dude.. get some better built wheels.

you wouldnt buy payless shoes for your own kid now would you? hell no, buy the kid some nikes.

Pooh I will say this about wheels. If the company made CRAP they would not still be selling wheels. Yes in everything sold there is the high end and the low end. From my experience with forged wheels, I have had no issues. I drove cross country twice on a set made by MRR. potholes, hard driving, and normal driving. You can buy the most expensive wheel and there is a chance of it failing. In my opinion, get what you can afford or want. Buy from a company that has been around and not had many negative reviews. There are many good quality products out there. I am sure you are smart enough to make a good choice.

I can definitely see the draw of nice forged wheels, but acting as if cast wheels are a death trap is a little over the top in my opinion. Acura thought they were sufficient for their needs, and every other car manufacture uses them as well, even on significantly heavier vehicles.

I do agree that there is a major difference between OEM cast wheels and cheap knock offs. Proper research is needed before buying any wheel, as I am sure there are terrible forged wheels as well. For a daily driven car there really is no true justification for forged wheels that cost 2 -5 times as much as a quality cast product, at least when considering reliability and performance.

Track use, aesthetics, and peace of mind are certainly other reasons to buy forged, but that is really personal preference as most car modifications tend to be.

High offset TL requirements don't allow for G37 or M5 deep lips or extreme concave unless you go this route:

Besides, trends come and go, but classic designs have staying power:
