Winter Tire Question (specific)
Hey everyone.
Have a question regarding winter tires. I bought an 09 TL a few months ago, and I don't think the rims are a standard size (they're 19inch, with P245/40R19 sized tires).
I have nearly brand new winter tires from my old car (an 09 Camry - it was temporary, don't judge) that are mounted on steel rims and are 215/60R16.
My question is: can I swap my old winter tires on to the TL? Not sure about bolt pattern, etc (but if that's an issue I could just get new steelies?), but is the tire size itself a problem or not recommended?
I know there's a huge size difference, but I think 17inch rims are standard on TL's, so it's really only an inch difference from where it should be?
Thanks for the help!
I've been silently lurking here for a while (previously had an older TL as well) but had never made an account. Have gotten lots of help here in the past.

According to Tire Rack (click here), your TL came with 17,18, or 19 inch tires.
According to this tire calculator (click here) your winter tires would be within 2.1% in diameter. So your speedometer and gearing would not be affected very much.
My concern is that the smaller 16" wheels will not clear the brake calipers, since 16" was never an OEM size.

I don't know of any member who tried on 16's and I can't comment from experience. As Rick mentioned I think you may run into brake clearance issues.
Edit: the tire you want to put on the TL is WAY too narrow. I know a narrower tire is beneficial for trekking through snow but you also run the risk of increasing braking distance and decease corning capability. The benefit of a narrower tire in the snow is to get a vehicle going. From my experience, even on A/S tires, a AWD 4G has no problem going, the real reason to put on winter tires is to be able to stop quickly.

6G TLX-S
Some insurance companies won't cover accidents caused by vehicles installed with components (in this case, narrow tires) that are below the OEM specs.

16s will not fit on the 4G TL because of the caliper size. Also I believe its very hard to find a 5x120 bolt pattern for a 16 inch wheel. My 17s barely fit on my 2012 TL with SH-AWD.
