Wheel and Suspension Upgrade 18's to 20's with H&R Springs *Pics*

So I took advantage of the great weather this weekend and picked up a lift jack and torque wrench to swap out my winter tires to my summer tires. I had Josh @ Excelerate install my H&R springs on Friday. They look awesome, and they feel similar to stock, but an incredible increase to the handling. All of the bounciness that happened on some turns and etc is essentially gone. Really an amazing upgrade! Huge thanks to Josh for the great work on the install.

So first I weighted my OEM 18" wheels with Wintersport M3's mounted.

Then I weighed the Falken 452 on RonJon Legend Type II's

Flush :P

One finger gap on the rear tires.

1 and 1/2 on the front. It's only been 2 days, I'm hoping it drops more in the next week or so, just down to the 1 finger front/back.

Complete set coming in the next month after a full detailing session.

Haha, thanks! Not until I wash it and give it the full detailing route. It's loaded with some epic swirls from a car wash gone bad... Need to repair those defects then I'll be going nuts with photos :P

You can check my garage in my profile to see more photos of them mounted. It wasn't dropped then, so they look a little strange, but still pretty sweet. The drop really sets them off, and they fit great with the large wheel wells.

I have always liked your wheels the best from all the ronjons I have seen on the new tls. Your wheels just have that rugged look to it which matches the the rugged lines of the tl itself.

You too, loving your ride as well, did you find some wheel spacers yet?

Thanks, Yea I was torn between the Harrow's and Legend II's, but of all the wheels I looked at I kept coming back to the mesh style, and these just had that look like nothing else out there. Once I get it detailed, I'm going to try to do some night pics, these look bad-ass at night. The color on the spokes gets darker. Plus I love the deep lip.

Did you have to reset the TPS ? or did you use acura tps sensors in the tires ? Do they reset the new sensors automatically?

Yea, I got acura tpms sensors from a dealer. I'm not sure if there is a special way to configure them, but I just drove around for about 10-20 min and they picked up.

Soon - I'm going to do a full detailing session, get the swirls polished out then a full photo session.
Here's some from a recent RJ shoot:

Looks great, I can imagine the springs still need to settle. Already looks nice and tightly engineered with the smaller gaps. Can't wait to see your shoot!

Looks great - I like the drop - seems similar to the wheel gap on my previous Type S - very tempted to get the springs.

Maybe you can help me with some questions I have:

1. Any concern with the stock struts on shorter springs?
2. How about camber? Did you have to do any special adjustment after the springs install to adjust any camber ( if there was any that is? )
3. You mention that the ride is comparable to stock, I've always thought/felt than my TypeS suspension was more harsh than the 2010 tl shawd, could you comment on that - with the new springs, does it feel more like the TypeS ( obviously this is assuming that you rode in a 2007 typeS before )

Thanks much
d.

FWIW, Dunlop emailed me and said M3 Wintersports in 245/45-18 weigh 27.9 lbs so that means the OEM 18" wheel weighs 24.9 lbs, including TPMS and balance weights, which may be of interest to some people.

1. No current concerns. I'm hoping that someone (Koni) comes out with newer struts at some point... But I'm willing to bet that you can still get many, many miles out of the existing ones. Plus I don't drive many miles per day (8) so I feel like I've got a while before needing to worry about that.

2. I had them put on and I was going to let it settle for a week before I got the alignment. I just got back from vacation (and actually hurt my knee while there) So I may not be able to drive for a week or two to get the alignment done. From what others have said on this upgrade that things were not that far out of alignment. I believe OEM settings have a bit of neg camber.

3. Great description, I think that's a good comparison, maybe a little tighter/stiffer than my 07 Type-S (had that car for 3 years). But it has that tighter feel on turns like my S had. It's way harsher with 20's than with the springs. But I still love it

Hopefully will get a chance next week... I jacked my knee pretty bad so I'm moving slow for a while.

^ Thanks Pete. This is great info - much appreciated.

I'm thinking of staying with 19 or even 18 ( I like the rims that came with the car ). I think you mentioned that you are keeping your 18 for winters, would you have any pics of the 18" with the drop?

I actually don't have any of the 18's with the drop. But if you check BLACKURA's photos in the photo section, you should see recent photos of his that are dropped on the factory 18's.

Right now I'm laying them flat in my basement. Not sure if there is a better way. Looking to get those tireholders from tirerack.

If you have them lying flat will that create flat spots. Anyone want to comment on how they store their tires ?

I've seen http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/...e+Storage' options online.

Check out this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-tires-wheels-suspension-298/too-early-summer-tire-change-over-768252/

I have mine lying flat in the garage for a while now and no issues.

I mean flat on their side. The wheel face is facing upwards.
