Tires for 2012 TL with Advance

I have ordered a 2012 TL SH-AWD with automatic transmission and the Advance package and expect delivery in a few weeks. I plan to replace the Goodyear RS-A tires with sticky summer tires and welcome suggestions. I don't want Michelin PS-2 tires because they are noisy and hard-riding, not to mention that the new Michelin Pilot Super Sport supersedes them. My goal is better handling and roadholding, but not at the expense a harsh, noisy ride. Thanks.

We run the Michelin A/S plus. Nice tire and not a lot of noise right now, but they are still new. My guess is that they will start to sound like the static on my home stereo when they get worn out. I do however have good news to report about my Yokohama AVID ENVigor. Very quiet, great predictable grip (but not as good as the Mich), and reasonably priced (<$200). They are holding up really well, so I'll bet they make the 45k warranty easy.

Thanks for the reply. My 2007 Subaru has Michelin Pilot Plus A/S tires. They are a very good all-season tire, but fall far short of a high-performance summer tire.

I ran Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires on my 2006 RL (since traded for my current '12 TL). Tires were great. Sticky in both wet and dry and surprisingly very smooth and quiet running tires. However, I opted for Contental ExtremeContact DWS's all seasons for the TL.

Is your TL's steering precise with the Continentals?

Actually, I am pretty impressed with them so far (they are afterall all season tires). However, keep in mind that I only have 137 miles on the odo and have not been through rain. But so far they seem pretty sticky and very quiet.

Yep, you would not be happy with the AVID ENVigor if you don't like the A/S plus. Although, if you are talking 205/55/-16" (Sister's Impreza wagon) there is a huge difference (rim alone is 2" wider) between the two.

EDiT: Look at the Pirelli PZero. Seems like someone here on AZ said they were reasonably quiet.

Those Conti DWS's get very good reviews, and I am looking at them on my M37S since I need 245/40/20 I can't see paying the hefty premium for Michelin, and the Conti's have a 50K mile warranty. They are highly rated on tirerack.com

just picked up the pilot sport a/s plus a couple days ago. i debated between those and the continental dws but went with the michelins for a few reasons including michelin giving me $300 for my oem tires since they wore unevenly and early (great customer service btw). the pilot sport a/s plus stick to the road like glue..very happy so far

225/55WR-17 on Subaru Outback.

225/55ZR-17 on Subaru Outback

My 2007 Subaru Legacy spec.B now has Pirelli PZero Nero A/S, which are very good, but not as good as the OEM Bridgestone RE-050 summer tires.
