Tire size recommendations

I'm planning to purchase some 20" x 8.5" wheels with a +35 offset and Hankook Ventus V4 tires.

I want to go with a 255/35/20 to have more rubber on the road (and a little more sidewall), since I'm downgrading from my stock Michelin PS summer tires and will lose some grip...but I'm worried with the +35 offset and that tire width (as opposed to a 245) it may stick out a bit too much.

I'm thinking it will look fine because overall it's only about 1 1/3 inches but I wanted to get some more opinions.

Also, do you think there is much benefit with a 255 compared to a 245 when it comes to cornering?

Thanks!

*Btw, I don't plan on lowering my car at any point.

there isnt really much of a big difference in a 245 and a 255..

you should be fine, your still 8.5 width.

especially when your not even lowered..

Your car may have a mighty suspension setup and a state-of-the-art AWD system, but when it comes to cornering performance, it all comes down to the total size of the four patches of tire rubber that comes in contact with the roads.

255 will put down more rubber on the roads than 245, and thus will give better cornering performance.

Best Tire Deals?

Just got 09 sh-awd TL. I have about 70% tread left, but will need to get new shoes soon. Anyone have a good source for new tire deals?

Just a heads up to anyone else out there contemplating 255 series tires, they will rub! Depending on the offset of your wheels of course. Mine are +35 and with less than a two finger gap between the tire and rear fender, it rubs when going over bumps or dips in the road.
