Tire Cupping or Feathering?
When I bought my 2009 TL SH AWD on Monday I knew the tires where not great. However after driving it all week I noticed the rear tires looked cupped or feather. I didn't notice this when I purchased. My question is does this indicate a vast number of things that are wrong with my suspension or one particular problem. Also if anyone is considered an expert what kind of $ am I going to need to start saving. The obvious new tires $500-$700 I am aware of.

Cupping on the rear tires is not at all unusual and not necessarily an indication of an issue. I've found rotating the tires regularly helps a bit.

Yes the tires seem to be more than a few years old. I guess I’ll have to take it in to just get everything checked. I don’t want to put a new set of tires on with suspension/alignment issues.

Rotate your tires and get a four wheel alignment. Then keep an eye on the wear to see if it’s still a problem. I think doing those two things may fix your issue.
