I have Michelin Primacy MXM4 245/40r19

Pros: Good gas mileage, soak up bumps really well, tread seems to wear really slowly

Cons: Mushy sidewall, poor handling, loud

Overall consensus: I hate these tires, stay away unless your only goal is a long lasting tire with good gas mileage.

Good to know. I'm running the stock 18s.

Continentals are good tires and will work great on TL's.

I have the Continental DW for summer use only. I like them. IMHO, the Pilots that same on 18's were loud-ish.

One other note I am extremely happy with my tire set up, however I did run the Continental DWS for a while and it was an excellent tire. I just decide with the 30 day trial period to switch up to summer/winter set up.

Hey wreak, were your Primacy Michelins the V rated ones? I understand that model came in V rated but also H or T rated.
Strange for a 40 series tire to be mushy - no?
Thanks for the info.

I have had good luck with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's. They seem to wear quickly, but they have better grip and performance than others I've used. They get hard when the temperature dips though, so the newer version, the 3+ is supposed to address that issue.

I'm really happy with the Continental DWS 06 in the summer and Bridgestone Blizzak WS80's in the winter. I'd run summer only tires during non-winter months but I tend to push the Conti's late into the fall and put them on early in the spring to reduce the wear on the Blizzaks which burn out quick on warm dry roads. We can still get some light snow in October and March and the Conti's handle that just fine.

Newish to the 'zine, I appreciate your patience.

Any opinions out there on either Nitto Motivo or Falken 4G rubber on stock 18s? 4G TL SH-AWD, bone stock.

I'm looking for bang for my buck, all season usability and trying not to sacrifice performance.

Thanks.

Has anyone used the BFG g-Force Comp-2 A/s tires? I'm thinking of getting these or the DSW 06's. Main concern is dry performance, with comfortable/quiet ride being second. I'm pretty far south, so snow performance is not an issue. I've heard some people say that the DSW's are too floaty and some say that they're great and sporty feeling; the DSW's are also a couple of pounds lighter than most of the other UHP All Seasons.

The replacement for the Continental DW is the Contiental ExtremeContact Sport and it's an incredible tire. I got some put on my TL about 600 miles ago and they have blown me away. Incredible amounts of grip, great in the dry and a 30K treadlife warranty on a MAX Performance Summer tire.

UHPAS tires will always feel floaty and have less grip than a summer tire.

Those are less expensive than the DSWs? It does get kind of cold in the winter here occasionally, not sure how affected those get by temperatures but I’m looking for something that I can use year round.

Tirerack and a few other websites don't recommend moving Max Performance summer tires when the weather is below 40F. In my part of FL it's only an issue a few days/weeks. It was $208/tire for 255/45/18

I've seen something like that too, which is basically the only reason I've been looking at an all season. It gets into the 30s at night during the winter and possibly the 20s once or twice during the year. I don't track my car or anything, I just like to drive it aggressively sometimes and the tires that I have on there right now, Toyo Versado LX II's (which were on the car when I bought it used) are noisy and spin pretty easy. I've gone back and forth between the DSW 06's and the Pilot Sport A/S 3+. The DSW 06s seem to be a good balance between comfort and sportiness but some of the comments about them being floaty and not having a sharp turn-in push me in the direct of the PS A/S.

255/35r20 Falken ziex ze950 A/S for summer and a set of 225/55r17 Toyo grit kx for our "lovely" eastern Canadian winter months.

I recall the Primacy Michelins have two versions. One had a higher max load capacity, and had stiffer sidewalls to achieve that rating. I don't know if it was more for handling or more for heavier SUVs and mini-vans.

Continental DW’s in the Summer and Continental DWS’s the rest of the time. I like them both.

Those DW's look nice. I ended up going with the DWS 06 since I needed an all season set and a little extra grip for dirt roads.
