Question Staggered Setup

Hey Everyone!!! I'm new to this forum. I'm the proud owner of a 2012 Acura TL SH/AWD w/Tech Pkg, which I purchased about 1.5 wks ago (I'll will be posting pics soon). I've read many posts here and I'm really excited about makings mods to my TL. New wheels are definitely my #1 priority. Can someone explain to me what "staggered setup" means? What are the pros and cons? Does this require modifying the suspension? I wouldn't want to do anything to damage my new TL.

Thx in advance.

the staggered set up is mainly for RWD cars.
It's usually a wider rim on the rear.
a wider rim equates to a wider tire.
a larger contact patch in order to put the power to ground more efficiently.

Thx Justnspace. So if I found a wheel that stated that it has a staggered setup, I shouldn't get it bcuz it's not intended for AWD. Correct?

^now there is some debate.

you can go staggered on an AWD vehicle, BUTT, the rolling diameter of both front and rear have to be similar.

Ok. I understand.

Just bcuz a wheel set comes staggered doesn't necessarily mean that you have to purchase it that way, does it?

^no, not at all.

Most wheel companies offer many different sizes, offsets, widths, etc.

OP, do a search for this kind of stuff. I know you are a but this subject has been covered 5 times already.

I just realized you probably don't know how to search. Don't use the big box in the middle. Go to the section you want, ie: fourth generation TL, then use the small drop down one on the top right of the section that says "search this forum."

This. And welcome to AZ - you'll find TONS of great questions answered for you about wheels and etc in this subforum.

Your best bet is going to be 8-9" wide wheels - with offsets anywhere from +32 to +45 (ish). 19 or 20's (i'm partial to 20's, but the right 19's do look pretty damn good on this car).
