well I just placed an order with RonJon for the 19" Vegas because they were able to give me free shipping and a flexible payment arrangement...I think the styling looks a little better and the color goes well with my palladium silver.

I also picked up that trunk spoiler that wasn't on my car at the dealership, and eventually I'll be getting the RonJon aero kit. Big plans for this beast If I get a good Christmas bonus I should have a good few aesthetic mods completed by sometime in january haha

They look great and just fine, I don't really get why every car has to have the "perfect" stance...overplayed. Not everyone can afford or wants to buy springs or even set up suspensions.

Aside from that what size tires is he running?

These are Toyo Proxes4 245/35ZR20 on Vossen CV2 20x9.5
on my 2012 SH-AWD TL. Got them put on this past June. Running about 38 PSI cold all around. Rides and handles great.

it should be about 35 psi cold.. not 38.. when hot it can add about 4-5 psi.

you dont need that high psi as you are running 35 series tires... if it was like me where i run 30 series all around.. then you should run higher psi..

I also just bought an '09 TL Tech, FWD with 32k mi and have been working under the impression that the bolt pattern was 5 x 114.3 or 5 x 4.5. The dealer told me that my bolt pattern was 5 x 4.5, but I thought this was an error. When I measured today, it looked more like 115mm than 120mm, bolt center to bolt center.

My wheel is the same as the lead photo in this string and I'm also interested in 18 or 19 inch replacements. Whats up with the earlier bolt pattern on '09 models; was the change to 5 x 120 done mid-model year, maybe? My car went into service on 9/23/2009, so I'd think it was a later production vehicle, but who knows?

Also, what's the widest tire I can use without other modifications? I'd like to run 265mm on an 18" wheel and would prefer using one of the many Honda/Acura OEM. wheels available. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Walt54th

well 4th gen no matter what year is 5x120.. so whoever told you that it isnt has no experience in this field.

you can run a 265 on a stock 18 sh-awd wheel no problem. the rears will fit, i am pretty sure the front as well.. but dont take my word for it.

Agree. 4G TL's have an OEM bolt pattern of 5x120.

Tire PSI should be adjusted for every tire and the drivers liking. There is nothing wrong with 38, and it doesnt matter what series tire he has, now running the other way with less psi on a lower series tire isnt recommended. I typically run mine at 38-40 cold.

How is the ride with the 20" wheels and tires? I have a 2010 SH-AWD 5AT and am thinking about 20"s but don't want a ride penalty....I've found wheels at 26 pounds so I think I can avoid the feel of a bunch of cylinder blocks at each corner, but the smaller sidewall is a concern - what is your experience and view?

I chose to stay with 19's and no lowering (at the moment anyway). My attempt to minimize the gap was to go with 255/40R19's.

what offsets are you guys running with 20's? I have an 09 base with acura lip kit and h techs. I'm lookin for 20 inch wheels but I'm trying to avoid fender rolling. any recommendations? I'm assuming 10mm offset lower than stock is safe but will +35 be okay without fender rolling. I'm planing to go staggered 20x8.5-9 /20x10 rear but if I have to roll fenders I might just stay non staggered.

I agree that being "flush" or "slammed" is form over function but being lowered doesn't have to be. I lowered my car for performance AND aesthetics.


Living in NY and frequently commuting in NYC, I've never had a problem being lowered. Worse care scenario I'll go up a ramp at an angle and slowly. I love my TL, everyone that knows me personally and has read my posts can atest to that, but don't act like the car is something it isn't. Maybe I'm spoiled but I've never attributed 40k vehicles as being particularly elegant and or classy. A Veyron on the other hand, practically one of the most elegant and classy modren vehicles (unless you consider it vulgar), has maybe a 1.5-2 finger gap with stock suspension. Theres absolutely nothing classy about a gap you can fist .


Edit: it's also a common misconception that being lowered automaically means your car will be "stiff", "ride like shit", etc and if done properly, thats not the case at all. I rode in Types1fan 12' TL shortly after he had his Tein SS w/ EDFC installed and when put on the softest setting you could've sworn you were transported into a GS.

Finally an update here, I ended up with Ronjon Legends:



I love the way they look on the car, but those extra 2 inches really make it feel like it's sitting a lot higher.

I ordered some Tein SS coilovers so my next step will be a drop. I've been looking around for what it generally costs to install them (came up with a ballpark range of $150-500 just through different forum searches). I'd rather save the money, but I've never DIY'd something as critical as a suspension. Is it something I should even attempt to do myself?

Wow it took u a while but got it done and looks good, if your not mechanically inclined and don't have the tools leave it to a pro. Install charge depends on where you live and what shop u visit but it's a ballpark figure of 250-500.

lol... compensating bigger tire for wheel size.. put them all on coils and see how sunken in they are..

for those to are against lowering.. good for you.. but i hate body roll so gotta lower..

dude.. there are numerous shops here in socal that would give you an install + alignment for 150-200 bucks depending on where you go..

install of coils itself should be no more than $120 bucks.

Hope you didn't have to use your full two digit IQ to come up with that useful comment since it's basically a regurgitation of what was said on page 1 of this thread.

The "big ass tires" help keep the SH-AWD planted but you wouldn't know about that, and the 4x4 is so I can drive it like I stole it without worrying about every imperfection in the road.

Killer. I was holding off on calling around locally for quotes til the parts actually showed up at my door. That range came from a couple different forums and the $500ish quote was a guy in Canada on clubrsx or something along those lines...that figure was met with similar outrage lol.

Any SoCal shops that you would recommend in particular?

Thanks. I used to feel the same way since my car didn't come with a spoiler.
I just got used to seeing it on other TLs and I started to feel like it looked naked without it.

I'm not generally a fan of "wing" spoilers but I do think most of the "lip" style spoilers out there look good.
