Question about Tire Pressure

I recently had my '10 TL serviced at the dealer and they inflated my tires to 37 in the front and 36 in the back. Is there some reason they always put way more than needed? The manual clearly states 32 in both the front and back on the FWD model. Should I be letting some of that air out or just leave it at 37/36? Just curious...

Thanks!

Talking Tire pressure

wait till the tires are COLD; (next morning)
I keep my 2012 TL/SH/AWD, 18" Michelins at 35PSI/COLD
Handling is better, & I've found through experience, there's no extra tread wear

it can drop about 4-7 psi depending on weather conditions.

in socal, we have very cold mornings and very hot afternoons.

my car reads 31-32 psi in the morning, and when i leave work.. its at about 36 psi.

you dont want it to read 37 psi at cold weather becuase if its hot, you can easily go over 40psi and that is not good.

Don't drop anything til the next morning or when you haven't driven your car for awhile. If its at 36, 37 PSI cold then you gotta drop it. If the tires are warmed up at 36-37 that is ok

My new TL had 44psi on all four. I lowered the to 34 but was driving around for 50 miles with the pressure that high.

Have been using 37 all around in Miami, FL for over a year, wear is ok, MPG better than at 32 by at least a mile+. When hot they get to 39 lbs.

If you've got Tech, the car will do the math for you. More work than Google, though.

How ? The Tech-optioned car will do conversion for many units except pressure.

Being almost certain that I've done the pressure conversion in-car before, I went down to my parkade just now to double-check. For some reason, it would allow me to convert only temperature.

Oops...inline edit: the nav manual says that since I didn't input a value, temp is the only selectable item. I'll try again this evening, but I was certain that pressure was an option under the "Automotive" heading. I could certainly be wrong, though.

Vindication is mine...the Tech does do pressure conversions after all. It's under "Automotive" as I thought.

Yes it does temperature, but you may be able to simply set your MID to show in C. Under "Calculator", simply input the number you want to convert, and then push the joystick downwards for "unit conversion". Temp is item 5 on the list, I think. Presure is found under "Automotive" (item 6).

Agreed here, 35 seems to work the best for me.

Door sticker on our '09 SH-AWD HPT says:
37 FRONT
32 REAR

I keep my 2012 TL/SH-AWD 18" Michelins @ 33 PSI COLD. The ride is a lot smoother. Door jam recommends 32 PSI.

Today I finally have a chance to try out the Pressure conversion function.

No luck.

Inside the "Automotive" page, even though "Pressure" shows up as one of the multiple entries, it is greyed out and can't be selected.

In fact, only the "5. Temperature" entry is working, the rest of the entries are all greyed out like the "Pressure" one.
