Progress Rear Sway Bar for '09+ TL FWD
Excelerate Performance is pleased to announce for Progress Auto the release of the new 09+ TL FWD Rear Sway Bar. See below:

This simple upgrade will dramatically improve driver confidence, the handling capability and chassis balance of this awesome new Acura platform. The 24mm solid steel alloy rear anti-sway bar features two adjustment holes for tuning the chassis balance. The kit includes all necessary hardware for a complete installation including low-deflection polyurethane bushings, brackets, reinforcement plates and special bushing grease. All Progress anti-roll bars are precision-cold formed and manufactured in-house, and feature an attractive dark-gray metallic powder coat finish. The bar is designed to work with the OEM end-links. We will have these on the website very shortly - they will be around $150 plus shipping!!! |
Is it pretty easy to install? Just an add on without taking out any existing parts?

On the 3G, there was a little "trick" where the mounting bolt had a hex cutout in the end of it. You had to hold the bolt with an Allen Wrech when loosening the nut. Not sure if this is the same in the 4G or not. Other than than, plug and play; easy-peasey. |

Progress has offered to provide us with one sway bar for a build thread. Anyone with a local FWD 09+ TL that is interested in spending some time on doing a review and having us install the bar please contact us. Progress will provide the bar free of charge and we will install the bar (labor charges will apply); we will take pics of the install but we will require that the consumer write up a review to help promote the new rear sway bar.

Whats the difference between the stock one and the progress sway bar? While i was installing mine, i noticed that they look exactly the same and weigh just about the same. I also feel like i haven't really noticed any difference.

I believe the factory bar is around 19mm; the Progress bar is 24mm and adjustable. It will reduce the body sway and will help neutralize the understeer inherent in the TL.

Has anyone else tried this sway bar...? I'd be interested if it's actually engineered for the car and actually has proven positive results.

Any aftermarket rear sway bar, that is stiffer than stock, will automatically reduce the understeer tendency of the front-heavy FWD car.

My TL is front wheel drive! Thanks for looking out! I just found out the sway bar is $20.00 cheaper on the Progress website then Excelerate. Not sure what to do! Kinda pissed!

any chance that anyone will make a sway bar for the aWD model? I have searched all over and the only sway bar I see on the market for 4th gen TLs is this one, but only for FWD models.
I don't know what the size of the sway bars are for the AWD TLs... but unless they are super thick..I would assume there woudl be room to make them even stiffer and help reduce body roll even more? any update if a sway bar will come out for the AWD TLs??? |

^^ wow - reminds me of when the ITR swaybar was fitted onto the rear of integras back in the day and would crack the rear subframe over time, later beaks and another manufacturer created mounting brackets to beef up the mounting points.

I used to have a 2G Integra with the suspension completely modded out. The stock brackets on the thick-ass rear sway bar kept breaking off, and had to be replaced every 9-12 months' of use. |

very common issue on the last gen civic Si's... The extra stiff rear sways needed beefed up brackets... Although i used a progress RSB without reinforncement and it held up fine for me, though i didn't track it or really abuse it either.

You don't need to track the car to break those brackets. In some cases, when a rear wheel runs over large pot-holes and big bumps, the resulting tension from twisting the thick sway bar is all that it takes to break the bracket(s). |

all you really need is a some sockets with a socket wrench, 2 jackstands, a jack, a drill bit and a drill.. not hard at all |
FYI, advice from IHC regarding this is to make sure the sway bar is parallel with the ground, not cantered up or down. Adjustable end links should help with this.

this link says the Progres RSB fits ALL models of TL... does this mean it works on an AWD model? I IM'd one member who has an SH-AWD and says he put it on his car... it does fit AWD models right??? |

The AWD TL already has a stiffer/thicker rear OEM sway bar when compared to the FWD TL. So before swapping it into the AWD TL, make sure that the aftermarket rear one is even stiffer than the AWD OEM rear sway. Otherwise, it's a waste of money and also hurts performance. |
