New Pirelli P7 AS+ for my FWD 17"

So 2 weeks ago, I finally got those new tires for my TL to take advantage of the $70 rebate. I've been buying tires from Discount Tires for the last 15 years and they always have the best price and service. The experience actually varies from store to store so you'll need to find a store that works for (or with) you.

So after 1000 miles, I find these tires very smooth and quiet per the reviews. I run them 34psi cold. I haven't pushed them in corners yet but I feel they perform about the same as those Michelin Primacy MXM4s I replaced. For the price difference ($155 vs $250), it was a no brainer. I hope they will last at least 50K miles. I also considered the Bridgestone Serenity AS+ but the rep say they may be quieter from the beginning but as will get louder as they wear due to the thread pattern. Same thing with Continental DWS and DWS06. Plus the Continentals will wear out faster due to their rubber compound. He thinks the Primacy MXM4s are the best for the car but agrees that they are expensive.

As for the background, I swapped the stock Pilot MXM4s for the Primacy MXM4s at 20K miles. Now at 70K miles, I replaced them with the Pirellis. The MXM4s were good at everything but I feel like they are a bit loud and rough on concrete surface. And they are too expensive for my size (245-50-17).

You have 30 days, to exchange them. Use it like I did 5 times! Use tire rack consumer rating for your size. Heck discount tire even bought my Eagle rs that came with my car. I did not want them I could tell they sucked day 1 of driving them.

I installed a set of the Pirelli Cinturato P7 AS Plus tires in Oct 2016. I replaced the factory Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires, that were on the 2014 TL W/Tech when I bought it new in April of 2014. The Michelin tires were noisy on concrete highways and interstates from day one. At around 24,000 miles, or so, the Michelin tires it really got worse. When I replaced the Michelin tires they had about 27,500 miles on them. Tread depth measured 7/32 to 8/32. (I ran the tire air pressure at 32 PSI.)

The Pirelli tires from the start beat the Michelin tires hands down in ever category. Handling and especially road noise. After about 500 miles the tires were even quieter than new. I now have 31,600 miles on the car. (4,100 miles on the tires. Tread depth as of 5/01/18, 9/32. I run the tire air pressure at 35 PSI.

(95% of the mileage on the car is highway/Interstate miles)

My experience with the P7 AS+ is exactly the same as yours. They're easily the best tires I've had on my car. 3rd set at 100k (OEM replaced at 45k, then crappy turanza serenity tires from bridgestone at 90k). Right now i'm sitting at 100k and the last ~10k the car felt incredible.

I'll have to look into them. I've always run DWS06 but I'm thinking of trying something new. Thanks for the review

I had the P7s on our former GTI and they were solid performers and quiet for the 30,000+ miles prior to selling the car. Based on that experience I put a set on my TL a few weeks ago, and it is like driving a different (better) car. :)
