Need quick help from 17" wheel owners!
We are going to the USA shortly and will be driving on the Crappy Bridgestone el400's. IMHO, these tires are lethal in the rain, are harsh riding and too noisey.
I hope to purchase a set of new tires in while on vacation and have narrowed it down to 3 tires. Either the Michelin pilot sport a/s plus, MXM4's or the Bridgestone turanza serenity.
Anyone have experience on these tires? I would appreciate your input very much.
I have tried the continental DWS and could not get them to balance enough to be a smooth tire. Otherwise I might have stayed with them at the price.
Anyway, hope you guys can help.
Cheers

Running the Mich A/S Plus right now and I highly recommend them. The A/S we have on the car are 19" and perform almost as good as the Ps2's that were summer tires.
However, I did see alot of reviews that had negative notes about the noise level when the tire wears down. We only have 2-3,000 miles on them.

I had Michelin pilot sport a/s plus tires on my 09 TL and they were awesome. Upgraded my rims to 19" and bought the same tires.. Have 14k miles on them and they look great, however, I rotate the tired every 5k. Highly recommended!

here is the story of my own experience. I live in Utah, I ended up burnt that Goddamn Bridgestones EL400 after 1 year of owner. these tires only last for 25,000 miles. trust me, don't believe on those fancy comments of Bridgestone "prepaid" users. Spent six months of winter on that EL400, and almost got kill once when I stuck on the highway and the TL did not roll, embarrassing and angry too. there was only 2 inches of snow.
Learning from that mistake, I swear to myself, michelin only.
I decided to do a calculation by myself.
The tire size for TL 4G is 245/50/17
I changed it to 235/55/17
and I chose Michelin Primacy MXV4.
a bit 10mm narrower, but thicker means smoother, and better i snow.
so tires look bigger, and make my car looks cooler.
Eat the bump softly, and smooth, quiet ride on freeway.
I am driving mostly on freeway. So I feel very comfortable with them.
I already put 3,000 miles on it. (driving 24,000 miles annually)
also it costs me 835 bucks at discount tire.
