Lug nut socket size?

I searched around and couldn't find an answer. Does anyone know what the size of the stock AWD lug nuts are? I am getting a torque wrench and picking up sockets to swap my wheels and I don't know what the size of the socket is to take the OEM wheels off.

Any ideas?

Actually I need to know the size of the socket that you put on the lugs to take them off. 14x1.5? Which one is the socket? 14mm? Seems small.

Ok looks like the answer is 22mm socket size. I think that converts to 7/8th.

Mods, I think I meant to put this in Tires and wheels.

No, the 12 x 1.5 or 14 x 1.5 is related to thread pitch. Honda had aways (mostly always?) been 12 x 1.5, I'm surprised they changed.

Pete, your looking for Lug Nut socket size, which I guess you've now determined to be 22mm.

Yeah, should be 22 mm deep socket, which I got from Sears. That is actually the size for the RL and MDX, but I do not expect the 4G TL to be different.

Yup, that's what I got. Confirmed that it does work. Swapped and put my summers on today.

7/8 will work also

Ahh thanks, I wondered what the imperial (is that right) conversion was for the metric size.

Kingmeow Apr 11, 2010 10:14 PM

1 inch = 25.54 mm.

22 / 25.54 = 0.8614
7 / 8 = 0.875

Off by slightly more than 1/100th of an inch...close enough. :D

So what is the size of the threads themselves? I tried my 12x1.25 and 12x1.5's yesterday on the new wheels (while I'm waiting for the real ones to arrive) and they don't fit. I saw 14x1.5 above. Is this the correct size?

Chas2 Apr 13, 2010 01:50 PM

14x1.5 is correct

1"=25.4mm not 25.54mm....

True, however this line ->l<- is bigger than the difference between 25.4 & 25.54mm.
