Koni yellow shocks
Does anyone know if the Koni yellow shocks for the TSX fit a 2012 TL sh-awd? Saw these online and it made me curious. http://www.heeltoeauto.com/koni-yell...roductid=66568
They allow for a 20mm drop by adjusting the spring perch. I would like to use them with the stock springs for a minimal drop.

koni said their yellow sport shocks woudl fit into our TLs? those shocks are nice. I ran koni yellows and springs on my old Honda Prelude SH and that car handled so nice for a FWD car.. i had a RSB upgrade too... what a fun car... WDP just like my TL.. ![Wink](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
keep us posted on this. for those of us who already have lowereing springs..adding a set of koni yellows might be a cheaper way to upgrade suspension vs swapping to full coils.
thanks.

it might be depending on price.. if the koni's are about 450 shipped it will be worth it.. if it is 650 shipped, you might as well get teins.

i dont think konis are 450 shipped...konis are the best shocks available for most cars. with the right spring combo, it will outperform MANY coilovers under $1000 in performance and comfort.

I have done business with HeelToe, and found there prices to be competitive with the other companies that are selling TL specific items. Customer service has been very good as far as my experience goes; and I will continue to do business with them, and encourage others to do so.

This is what KONI said:
KONI does not currently list an available application for the 12' TL. So I cannot confirm that the TSX shocks will fit. Though the previous 04-08 model TSX and TL's used the same front and rear shocks, it is possible but not been confirmed by KONI.

So I was on KYB's website and they use the same model number for the rear shocks for a 2012 TL and TSX. However, the front shocks use a different number. The stroke length and the extended length have different specs on the fronts. The compressed length is the same. The specs for the rear shocks are the same obviously.

I did see your reply, it was actually the same reply I got when emailing KONI. I did some more research on KYB's site and noticed that they use the same model number for the rear shocks on 2009+ TSX's and 2009+ TL's. As for the front struts, they are different model numbers and according to KYB's specs, the extended length and stroke length are different. However, the compressed length is the same. If KONI wanted to develop struts/shocks for the TL, it sounds like they would only need to worry about the front.

Someone in or near KY should hit up KONI and get some free shocks

Just to follow up. Did some more digging this morning and found the following pictures of a 09+ TSX and an 09+ TL front strut setup.

They look identical.

Wouldn't the weight only matter for the springs? I would use the TL factory springs on the KONI's. We know the TSX and the TL use the same rear shocks, and they can't be the same weight in the rear.

so what is the point of swapping out shocks if your only going to keep the stock springs on?? seems kind of pointless to drop that much money and to only be able to change the dampening of the shocks and not the height at all.

They actually have an adjustable spring perch which lowers the car 20mm. I know its not much, but I am not happy with the factory dampening and I don't want to slam my car.

again i see no benefit into doing this.. you spend nearly 850..(installation and alignment) when you can easily buy tein basics or Street advance for 100-200 more.. and you get more out of it..
koni.. $649
tein basic - $729
tein Street advance - $849
tein ss - $949
and plus.. those shocks are made to work better with lowering springs anyways.. putting stock springs on really makes it no different then stock shocks.

so you wouldn't pay that $80 difference to get tein basics when it is clearly better than koni's as it is full sleeved coils with 16way dampening?

I see where you are coming from, I just don't know much about the durability of Tein. I have heard of some issues. Maybe my concerns are unwarranted, but with KONI I know I get a lifetime (as long as I own the car) warranty.

ive had it for 3 years.. and still going strong.. no complaints whatsoever... not sure how it would hold up against areas where there are salt.. but that applies to every strut/coil system out there..

I don't think the Tein Basis/Basics have adjustable dampening. The Street Advance/SS do however. Koni Yellow shocks have adjustable dampening also, a lifetime warranty, a great reputation, etc. Not saying Tein isn't good as they have a great reputation also, just depends what you are looking for. A 1 year warranty wasn't long enough for me, that's why I went with Koni Yellow shocks and springs on my Accord.
