I want this look. Questions Inside
Hey guys...so i want to be able to achieve this look. Did some searching and didn't look like this user had a progression thread, and there was no response of my question to him in another thread, so I've come to you mod gawds.
1. Can I achieve this look with 19 inch wheels and lowering as well, or would I need to go with 20's with lowering? I'm aware my tires would be a little thicker.
2. How low do you guys think he's lowered? (2 inches, greater than 2+ inches, or "slammed" as you guys call it?) **Take it easy here, i dont have much knowledge of lowering outside of what I've been reading here.

I've met him and seen his car in person. If my memory is correct, he's almost maxed on Tein SAs and has his fenders rolled. And honestly, you can achieve that with 19s. I'm also on SAs and have about 3/4 of an inch to play with still.

Yeah you can achieve that look with 19's. Do you know how wide you want your wheels? Looks like his is a staggered setup. 20x9 upfront and 20x10 in the rear.
I have the tein SA and have a tight finger gap all around now. I set my coilovers .25 inches from recommended specs but when it settled, I raised it another .25 inches because it got lower.
Depending on your wheel setup specs, you may or may not have to roll your rear fenders.

Pearson4G man your ride is sweet, and I definitely like the older body style (specifically the rear bumper) and front bumper only when the beak is painted. But yours looks exactly like what I would have done to mine in that year body style. I go back and forth on 19's to 20's like every week just from looking around on here but your car pretty much showed me what I needed to see on 19s. Think i'm sticking with the 19s
Do you have any issues with rubbing with riding or full turns? Also did you roll?

Also, hows the ride quality down that low? My car will be my DD, but yours is right at around how low i'd want mines. Lift3d's is just a tad too low, but it looks amazing. Wasn't wanting to go that low tho. Still wanted alil space to be a bit comfortable on bumps and things. Plus with the 19s I'd get the extra tire to soak some of that up as well as opposed to 20s.

Also Pearson...is your wheel finish Anthracite or Black? Looks like the Anthracite finish....think i just feel in love with these wheels. Completely drifting from the TSW Mirabeau's (black gloss) i was thinking of getting.

Haha thanks man. The ride quality is literally the same as stock (A tad bit rougher cause of the tire profile) and I love it. It was my DD last year to and from Downtown Toronto (40 minute drives one way) and had zero complaints. One of the better mods I've done. And yea the finish is Anthracite Grey, but going with a new color for this year.
Honestly, anyone that asks me about whether to get 19s or 20s, I tell em 19s all the way. Mine are 19x8.5 +25 / 19x9.5 +15 for a bit of poke. With the drop, people often ask if they're 20s haha. I love the way everything came out and highly recommend a similar setup.

I would've guess your wheels were 20s too if it wasn't listed in your sig. You're ride is probably smoother than mine since you have a little more meat on your wheels. With the right wheels and drop setup, 19's will look just as good as 20s. Like your car for example, Done just right.

I am on 20s. Hahah. I'm running 20x10 with an offset of +40. You won't need spacers to run 19x9.5 unless you are wanting it to poke out more. Hub rings don't mess with your offset. It keeps your wheels from vibrating. It goes in the center bore of your wheel so it'll fit properly on your wheel hub. I have the on mine wheels too.
...so this is your car. After seeing this one a few weeks ago, it let me know i'd be just fine with how the 2012 body style would look when lowered. Thought you were riding 20s tho :-). The sweet satisfaction of reassurance lol. Your 9.5s all around?...and what offset you running? I think i'm going to get the wheels that Pearson has now instead of the other ones i wanted, but i dont quite understand offset all that great. Watched a few videos, but i still dont understand how Pearson is running the offsets he noted earlier. Spacers perhaps? If i were able to get +35 offsets would i even need spacers? I just always see +35 offet for this car when i'm looking at like franchise tires shops like Discount Tire Company. Also does hub rings along help them to fit if you dont have a +35 offset, or nah?

See what I mean about going back and forth smh lol. To clarify tho, you're running 10s front and backs? I assume yes, but how did you get a +40 offset, did they come as a +40 offset wheel or was that something you achieved during mounting, as far as adjusting the offset?
I thought wheels came at a fixed offset, or am i wrong?

Hahaha. It's a big investment so I don't blame you for going back and forth. Yeah I'm running 20x10 up front and 20x10 in the rear. +40 off set was how it was made through the manufacturer

This is 19x8.5 et35 235/35/19 front and 19x9.5 et33 265/30/19.
It just depends how low you wanna go, if you want that look and drivable everywhere, I would have 20 inch

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and had my 2012 TL for about a year. Are any of you able to get decent mileage out of your tires when your car is that low? I've had lowered Hondas, trucks and it was always a challenge or battle keeping the alignment in line to get halfway decent mileage. My TL Tech is a DD and so far I've driven 22K since I've owned it. Just looking to start modding it and lower for better stance. Thanks

Are you saying it wouldn't be drivable everywhere due to the amount you'd have to drop to get it lower? I want it lowered, but i dont want to dropped all the way down like most. Just eliminate some of the wheel gap. I was thinking that I wanted a 1.5" drop, which i thought would put me in a safe zone of rubbing, bumps, etc., but then i saw a car that had the same drop on the forums and it looks really low to me. I didn't think 1.5" would be to bad. I wanted to do the 19s with a 255/35/19 wheel, but i started leaning towards 20s. Whats your drop?

Very slightly stretched tires can improve control in quick direction changes as it reduces flex in the sidewall. Most of the time though stretched tires referring to stance is purely for cosmetics. Reduced contact patch with additional weight of a wider wheel hinders performance.
