Excelerate Performance: XLR8 Coilover Group Buy!!!

Excelerate Performance is proud to announce the release of a new coilover line for the Acura lineup. We have worked closely with ISC suspension to design coilovers for the Acura TL (2nd, 3rd and 4th gen), TSX (1st and 2nd gen), RSX, and NSX. We have become the exclusive distributor in North America for the Acura models, thus making them XLR8 coilovers manufactured by ISC. So what are ISC coilovers and what are the benefits?

The ISC N1 Coilover is an affordable high performance damper system which offers excellent performance and high quality at a reasonable price. ISC offers suspension solutions for various auto manufacturers including BMW, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen, & more! But we are going to focus only on the Acura lineup.

All coilover setups come with a 12 month warranty to put your mind at ease; if the product fails in any way in the first 12 months we will pay all postage, labor and parts costs to fix the issue, and in minimal time. If our product fails after that initial 12 month period we will replace the product at trade price!!

The N1 coilover can be lowered approximately 3 inches lower then standard ride height. The spring rates are set up specifically to suit your car and therefore will improve handling and stability dramatically. We can make packages for track/rally/drag and of course street. Our lineup will specifically be designed towards the street/sport customer. However, to offer more flexibility we will offer the option for custom spring rates at no extra charge. This will require extra time but not for this initial stocking order.

ISC N1 Coilover

Features:

32 Steps of Damper Adjustment
  • Precise control of valving/damping
  • Operates smoothly on all road surfaces
  • Expansion/Suppression of shock adjustment

Pillowball Uppermount (RSX) or Aluminum Upper Mounts
  • Adjustable camber allows more/less on road track for all conditions (RSX only)

Piston Rod Design
  • Strengthened steel piston rods
  • Meets race/sport standards

Sports Spring
  • Made from high quality SAE9254 steel
  • Tested over 500,000 times on compression inspection with less than 5% deformation
  • Choose from Street Comfort, Street/Sport or Track/Race (spring rates vary depending on application, for specs check the application guide or ask us when you order, custom spring rates are free). Spring rates are typically as follows for the Acura models: Street Comfort 10/6 Street/Sport 12/8 Track/Race is 14/10.

Ride Height Adjustable
  • Full length height adjustable
  • Pre-load adjustable with separate spring locks
  • High quality T6061 aluminum alloy used for all adjustment locks to provide a lightweight design that holds spring and vehicle down force

Aluminum Bracket
  • Made from T6061 aluminum alloy by organic shaping to lighten weight and increase handling performance
  • Specially anodized surface to prevent internal corrosion and surface rust
  • On various models camber can also be adjusted via the bracket as well as the camber tops (RSX only)

Single Cylinder Design
  • Larger cylinder and piston design to advance driving stability and dexterity

Thrust Bearing
  • Improves steering and creates a smoother ride
  • $55 upgrade included for free on all our coilover kits with Macpherson style struts

Here is a link to a review by a 3rd gen TL owner:

So, we will be submitting our initial stocking order for these coilovers in the next few weeks. Those who participate in this Groupbuy will receive a significant discount for being part of the first shipment, which will take 4-6 weeks to arrive. These coilovers list out for $1250 for the set. We will be selling them for $950 plus shipping after the initial stocking order. But in order to get our first stocking order in we want to offer an introductory price of $850 shipped to the cont 48 US. This saves the average customer about $150. If you are interested please create a list.

I would like to get at least 10 people on this first batch. I have to order at least 20 sets so half would be good. Of course there can be more than 10 or 20. And anyone who joins now gets the sales price. Once I get a list I will require a deposit of $200 the week after. The final payment will be due the week the parts arrive, which is 1-2 months from the date of order. So let's set a date for the list to be compiled by of Tuesday, January 24th. Deposits of $200 will need to be in by Tuesday, January 31st.

Deposits will need to be made to excelerate@sbcglobal.net via Paypal and you will need to include your vehicle info (year, make, model) and desired spring rates (Street Comfort, Street/Sport or Track/Race). We recommend the Street/Sport. This is what 80-90% of customers order.

Feel free to ask any questions too.

List (please write your SN and whether the deposit has been paid):

1.
2.
3.

etc etc

Spring rates are not adjustable on any coilover. I can order you a set with the spring rates you want though. I think maybe you're referring to damping; these do offer damping adjustment.

The company is MA based and over on the subie forums they come highly recommended. $850 shipped seems like a great deal for the features - they do look like they are high quality.
Part of me wished they had EDFC - but honestly I'm not sure id use that feature too much anyway. I think nexson was even trying to sell his because he didn't use it.

I'm going to have to think about this - been wanting to upgrade from the H&R's.

Price is right.. I just am reluctant on the brand. Ive ridden in a TL w teins and it rode great. No edfc even neeeded. My old car had KWs in it and they rode great too. Others tried K-sports when they became available and complained about how crappy they were. I know Excelerate wouldnt represent a bad product, im just still reluctant to jump on a somewhat new brand. Tein has been around forever, so has KW.

They are adjustable height. I think the SS lowers up to 2.4" while this one is 3"

xlr8 please let me know about the turn around time. Also I never had coils before so I was wondering about the spring rates. Is it the lower the spring rate the more comfortable vs higher spring rate stiffer?

I will pay deposit in a day or two. For those who are in the market for coils this deal is a steal. there already 4 people on the 3g side (didn't check others) so 10 will be a easy # to reach.

Lets get the deposits done before Jan. 31st!

p.s if you never heard of ISC, they're not really a new brand. They've been in Asia and Australia. Just new to America. They offer better 1 year warranty than Tein too.

This isn't a new brand. They have been around for a long time. They are newer to the US market but they have been picking up popularity quickly, especially among the Subaru, Mitsubishi, BMW crowd.

These should be arriving to your door by late March. Also keep in mind we have 5 people already paid on the 3rd gen TL side.

Yes, they will. You can expect up to a 3" drop or slightly more with these coilovers.

Count me in. Going to need them eventually since my springs will accelerate the wear on the OEM struts. Plus I can get a tad more drop. Add in the fact that the the US part of the company is in MA (and they do the rebuilds in New England). It's a no brainer. $850 shipped? That's a steal.

You adjust by turning a dial/knob on the top of the damper.

Sorry, another question, how do I get access to the top of the damper?

I mean, I know some adjustable shocks only allow adjustment on the bottom of the shock body for the rears, which makes it a pain because you have to either jack up the car or lie down on the floor to adjust the rears.

The knob for damping adjustment is on the top of the shock. Ride height adjustment is done by removing the wheel and turning the lower portion of the shock housing; that is standard with any coilover suspension.

For a 4G TL, you'll need to remove the rear seat in order to get access to the top of the damper/shock-absorber.

I was just looking tein ss specs of E.P store and the spring rates on the ss are
560lbs/in (10kgf/mm) front
280lbs/in (5kgf/mm) rear

the ISC N1 street/comfort are 10/6 so does that make 12/8 a lot stiffer than what everyone else loves about the tein ss 10/5?

When TEIN designed their coilovers for the 4th gen TL they did so with the FWD TL in mind. That is why they really recommend you run the TEIN SS with the 4th gen TL AWD so you can make the damping firmer. The 3rd gen TL has a 12/6 spring rate. And the 4th gen TL is even heavier. So there's really no reason to make the spring rates that soft. Also, you can make the spring rates whatever you like. We can order them that way for you.

You could always opt for the Street Comforts, which will ride similar to the TEIN SS.

Anyone know if we're going to need a front/rear camber kit with this setup and a moderate (1 finger) drop?
