STIFF

What is everyone running for custom spring rates? Please state the brand and specs.

I was surprise to see that spring rates for the 4G are less/softer than spring rates for the 3G.

10f 6r seems awfully Mickey Mouse for a car of this weight.

FWIW I'm considering Swift Springs 14f 12r.

Acura does not disclose spring rates.
and stock BR spring rates are not tuned for handling...as noted by the un-balanced front and rear spring rates.
14kg = 728lbs/inch
12kg = 672lbs/inch

BR 4G spring rates are 10f 6r.

Are you also saying that f and r spring rates should be the same?

when modding suspension; you want the car to be balanced.
stock BR at 10kg front and 6kg rear is UN- BALANCED.
it's more front biased, which equals to more understeer.

get custom BR spring rates to bring the rear to match the front....How much? I dont know. as Acura doesnt like to disclose their factory spring rates.
one could measure the spring rates on factory honda TL springs...that would get you closer to your goal, as scientifically as possible.

i threw science out the window and tried to up the rear to match the fronts. on my BC coils, I have 12kG up front and 10KG in the rear. which now, the spring rates are more balanced front to back. then, I can further tune the rear with damping, depending on what I want the car to do...

I really enjoy having the ass end come out, so I set up the car to lift-off oversteer.

Ok cool, well I figure even 12k all around will be better than the floaty 10/6 currently going on....so 14f/r it is because I'm a little extra.

since this is the first car i've ever modified, I have no clue if the suspension is "correct"
as I dont have a way to test the changes i've made...only "street" adventures that cannot be replicated on a consistent basis.
I have NO CLUE IF I FUCKED UP the handling of my ride...

but it makes sense to me, to have the front and rear spring rates, balanced...because a neutral handling car is the best..and is WHY the engineers worked so hard to keep the car 60/40 in regards to weight

I'm running TEIN SA, with compatible TEIN spring (12K front & 10K rear). Rides much firmer. Stock TEIN SA riders softer than stock SH-AWD suspension.

The TL has a front mounted engine, you do not want even spring rates front and back with a front biased weight car.

Ksport has the Version RR in a 26k/22k if you're looking for something really stiff!

You can find them on our site here: CAC110-RR - Ksport Coilovers - Version RR Damper System - Excelerate Performance - European, Exotic and Japanese Performance Specialists!!

Good luck & happy modding!

That's too stiff. Won't be able to enjoy the ride. What are your goals? Looking for track handling? I would go 16kf/14k rear or 14kf and 12kr if I was to go by again. I have 12k 8k and they road nice but stiffer would have increased my handling though adjusting the dampening will always help.

I want it to handle like a go cart..jks. I basically want to eliminate body roll and be able to take on ramps flat out. A upgraded rear sway bar is on my list. I just want everything to work in tandem.

I did some calculations last night and based on the 60/40 weight distribution, it would take 16k to compress the front springs by 1.3 inches and 14k to compress the rears by 1.03 inches.

i have 16k/14k, I go to track once, handles like go cart and awesome handling. Also, if you are going for slamming the car, I did that as well
