Aftermarket Rims...Your Thoughts And Do's And Don'ts

<img src ="http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/MiniW...id=true&sw=800">

What do you guys think of this? They're 17" rims so I assume nothing would change from the stock rims.

Also, if you do this, what do you do with the rims that came with the car?

Also, a related question. The FWD TL comes with 17x8 rims. When you replace them, is it wise to stick with 17" rims? If you go to 18" rims do you have to get lower profile tires to keep the overall size the same? I'd imagine if the wheel/tire combo ends up being larger, you'd mess up the speedometer and handling characteristics that the car was designed to provide.

Are these assumptions correct?

Personally, I am going to go bigger with my aftermarket wheels, as soon as I find one I like. 17in stock or any 17in wheel for that matter is going to look small on the TL imo. With as much space as the wheel well has I am not too worried about clearance or rubbing.

17's are too small for this car.....I think the ideal size is either 18's or 19's. I wouldn't go any bigger than 20's as this will increase drag and weight and harm the performance and handling. If you don't want to mess with the speedo when you upgrade, keep the overall wheel diameter the same.

I agree 18"-20" are idea for 4G TLs.

I'm interested how wide we can go. I'm hoping we can fit 255s.
