22's on 2013 Tech

I'm new here and I know everyone is against putting 22's on a TL but I actually like the way it looks. I went with a 22x9 inch Niche wheel with an offset of +40 and some 245/30/22 tires on stock suspension. Just had them installed today and I haven't had any rub or noticed a huge difference in the way it drives.

Looks good! Now you need to paint/vinyl your roof black! If you haven't already.

That's because he increased the diameter by an inch which eats up some of the gap, the tradeoff is an inaccurate speedo and probably a serious hit to his mpg due to weight and increased rolling resistance.

I plan to do exactly that! Thanks for the advice. Should I do matte or glossy?

IMO gloss is the way to go. A few others on here have done it and it turned out great!

Looks nice!! Yes I agree the black glossy room would be a perfect compliment to the black accents on the wheels.

Glossy it is! I'll have to find a shop out here in Phoenix that can wrap the roof for me.

I haven't noticed a significant drop in my ride quality as of yet. I put quite a bit of research into making this upgrade. There is still some room to tweak a few things if I run into any issues in the future

Dang! "Can't lose wit 22s!" Looks good actually. Too much big pimpin' for my taste though lol. To each his own. Your shocks and brakes will take a beating though after awhile.

The mileage meter on the OP's car will also run faster, and thus will register more distance traveled than the car actually has.

Sorry, just woke up and my mind is probably not at full revs before my coffee ... but wouldn't it be the other way around? Odometer will read less than actual miles traveled with a larger tire? Also might mess with the correct service indicators from the computer.

Good point, kinda sucks to lose accuracy on that feature but I guess you have to pay to play.

They look good. I thought the largest you could go on a 4G without ruining the look were 20's, but these aren't bad.

Looks Sick man 22s are the way to go! Someone mentioned has mileage on here and ride quality etc.. etc... they all assume everything. well in the city i get 20.5 mpg on my 22s and that is in stop and go traffic. considering the tl is rated at 20-29 MPG

they look too big. plus the rear tails are excessively blacked out...

IMHO it would look better with 20s, the OEM body kit, and the tail tint not being so black. cars that go dark dark black on the white paint make sthe car look like a storm trooper..and to me, it starts to look ricey.

Do you know how much weight difference there is between the stock set up and what you have now? You may want to consider a brake upgrade just to get your stock stopping distance back. If there is a significant weight difference, then you will want to try to find some shocks valved to control that wheel/tire configuration.

I wouldn't have guessed I would like it, but I do. It looks really good. I do love my factory 19" rims.

Your tint looks incredibly dark. What percent is that? I got 20% on mine and it doesn't look as dark as yours.

Thanks! For me it was either staggered 20's or go with 22's. I would have been happy either way I think. With 20's I would have had to lower the car which I didn't wanna do. My tint is 5% all around except for the windshield. We all have different taste and preferences

Not sure of the weight difference exactly but I added some weight for sure. A brake upgrade may be in my future. I'm not having any issues currently so I'll address issues as they arise.

Well, that's why your tint looks darker...it is!

I just traded in my '08 TL Type S for a '13 TL SH-AWD advance and I love it. So does my wife, I think even more than I do! Mine is black. We test drove a white one and she said she hated the color. I showed her the pictures of your car and she said she loves it! It's amazing what some tint, nice rims etc. will do to change someone's mind.

It honestly does look really good!

I'm trying to figure out what I want to do to mine, if anything. I'm just not sure yet what to do to it, but there has to be something!

I think lowering it and a lipkit would make the wheels look more at home. I wouldn't mind seeing what a 22" wheel with a step lip would look like on a TL.

Being in Missouri I wish I could go 5% but the rules here are like 15% and 35% or some junk! Looks clean. Now I wonder if I should go 21s

Just a comment about the smoked tails. I can promise you if someone rearends your car it will be your fault. Any lawyer or insurance company could make a pretty good case you're at fault with taillights like that. "I couldn't see his brakelights officer" you'd probably get ticketed along with being at fault too.

I've also heard that insurance companies will not cover their own clients in this situation which would leave you to cover all the damages even if you have collision coverage...so just a warning if that happens you could be in for a world of hurt.
