22" Rims

Ive been looking around the forum about fitting 22" rims on the TL (I know its been done).

What are the exact specifications that will be needed to fit the rims and will I have to roll the fenders to fit them?

I saw that 22" by 7.5 will fit but there's one on youtube with 22" by 8.5.

I'll need 25 or 30 series tires and what offset?

Thanks!

Gib

With bigger rims, doesn't that affect the accuracy of speedometer?
Or is there a way to adjust that?

If i use 25 series tires it will me OK but if I use 30 series i think that the speedometer will be off by a couple of percent (like 5% or something)

OP Don't do it.
22" aftermarket wheels and tires on this car are much heavier than the stock setup. All that extra weight can prevent the ABS and stability control systems from working properly and hurts the vehicle's overall handling.
Automotive engineers determine the optimal wheel and tire size when designing a car's suspension, and changing the overall diameter will hurt performance. Choosing new wheels involves a lot more than simply picking out the flashiest biggest Dub rim on the rack. Issues like weight, diameter, load rating and offset need to be considered. The best looking set-up is a set of 20's. The best handling set-up are light 18's. Putting 22's on your car will look like you're trying to show off your wealth (and your not fooling anyone, the TL is not a Bently) and it will cause you mech issues in the future.

Fine, fine. Ill get 20", but i dont think 22" look out of place. I just think the 20" dont look much bigger than the stock rims.

20" front, 22" rear, lol. Seriosuly though, 20" with a lipless design tends to look big already. In the end, your car is your own taste, so do what you want, but the larger you go, the riskier the drive is.

This is kinda off topic but...

what is the difference between wheels that fit an MDX and wheels that fit the TL. Is the offset and everything else similar as long as I get a rim that isnt too wide?

The reason why im asking is because some sites use the last generation TL's bolt pattern etc when you use the search function

there is no difference, consequences are the same, you lose performance, handling, ride quality.

top of that you run the risk of cracking your newly 22 inch rims due to low sidewall.

the only difference i can possibly think of is that MDX has a bigger wheel well to fit these type of wheels with thicker sidewall (i.e. 40 or 45 series) without sacrificing much performance while on a TL you will have to go 30 or 35 series tires which doesnt give you much bounce on the road.

at the end.. if your car is a show car, do it.. if its your daily, or something you take your gf or wife out with, then dont.

19 or 20" is a perfect fit for this car....

even 21" is ok, but the most expensive tires you will ever buy

Like Rondy said.... 20", Lipless wheel... will look perfect

I think you will be very disappointed if you put a 22" wheel/tire setup on your TL. I would go with a 20" and save the headache!

21" is probably as big as you want to go... Do a search for JTL-Dancho (dude from japan) and his 21" AC wheels... I dont think he's got them anymore, but by far my favorite wheels on the 4G.

Found it, THIS IS BADASS!:

Thanks mugenkid for the pictures. The wheel specialists website is mint, i like being able to see the rims on cars rather than just the stock picture.

Any chance you could hook me up with a deal on a wheel/tire package?

What rims do you like best on the TL?

LOL ya ive seen these. Theres actaully two of those camaros that have similar paint and rims.

I dont think they look THAT out of place on the white TL. Some 20s look almost that big depending on the design.

Ive 90% decided to get the chrome 20" dalar or dalar vs, they look pretty big. Im going to have to drop it an inch or so to make them fit in the wheel well a bit better

I like those wheels Gib, but what color is your TL? That will make a difference as to what finish/color you could get.

I have a CBP w/ umber interior. I think theres worse rims that I could get to throw off the look, I like them.

Tl just floatin that is funny I have not seen that one yet. Its crazy how some 20s look so big on a car and other styles look good I guess it has allot to do with color, drop, and offset.
