22’s on a 2012 Front Wheel drive TL
So I am currently running 20x10, 35 offset in the front and 20x10.5, 30 offset in the back Giovanna Spira FF wheels on my TL. I am looking to change wheels and was curious if putting 22x8.5 or 22x10 would be too big? I have a staggered setup currently and my car is not lowered, YET. I’m afraid going to 22’s may cause a decrease in turning radius or may cause me to rub. Any suggestions ?

The inconvenient truth
I suggest you keep those rims and lower the car.

You know, I really get the whole "different strokes for different folks" thing, but are folks really such slaves to what some folks might think looks cool that they don't care about destroying the ride, handling, acceleration, braking, and road hazard tolerance of their cars? I mean, a 4G TL on 20" wheels is already seriously compromised in all of those departments, the same car on 22" wheels will be for all intents and purposes a garage queen.

I say go big or go home. Just get 24's and ride on the rims.

I'm an engineer and firmly subscribe to the "Form follows function" mentality; why someone would want to seriously compromise the ride, handling, acceleration, braking, and road-surface impact compliance of their cars by riding around on rubber-bands is beyond me.

I think it has to do with what the owner is looking for. I'm all about pretending my TL is a racecar. It obviously isn't but that doesn't mean I'm not going to do everything reasonable in my power to make it as close as possible. I don't gun the car from a stop too often because I'm trying to extend the life of my AT. But once the TC is locked, it picks up the pace pretty damn quick with 15lb Oz's and 23lb Continentals than it did with 25lb stockies and 27lb Michelins. And I take turns on a daily basis that squeal the tires and occasionally borderlines on drifting. It ain't no S2000 or Miata but compared to stock, it feels like I took the Doc Martin boots off and threw on some Adidas. I would have gone with an S2000 if I didn't have kids. But I'm not yet at that point in my life
If you look at a stock car (Nascar) or formula 1 racers, you'll see they have rather small wheels with relatively large tires. They have a sidewall/wheel ratio that most of us would laugh at. Nascar runs 15" rims with tire diameters of 25', which is about equivalent to a 245/55. That's about the same height as the 225/55's I'm running (26.6') but with a 15' wheel? Definitely not aesthetic. But they don't do it to look good. They do it because it's an ideal setup for traction and acceleration.
But not everyone is looking for that. Not everyone wants make their car more nimble and quickfooted. Some folks just want to cruise and enjoy a pimp car. Nothing wrong with that at all. That's not my style but I've got to admit, some of the tricked out 4G's on here look pretty sweet. I've been tempted to go that route a few times but if it's going to compromise the ride, I won't do it. No ground kits, no heavy wheels, no heavy aftermarket stereo stuff, nothing like that.
I doubt the OP is looking to get handling similar to a TSX, Jetta GLI or Civic Si out of his nearly 2 Ton TL. That's what I shoot for but I'm a weirdo

Acura TL 2011 Tech
Wow!! 22' seems to much to me, extravaganza like, I want my car to still look like the original factory with a very light difference. Personally I will not do it, my max is 20" and my preference is even 19 on my 2011 TL but again, different people, different mind sets, different taste.
If you like what you see man, you go for it

have been working with alternative combos for my 2012 tl
22's - will get rub, and an offset that's +25 - you will run into trouble.
bough 18" for my TL that is 5x120- but turns out my bolt pattern is different. Does anyone else have a different bolt pattern on their 2012 TL tech package SHAWD?
