2012 TL SH-AWD 6MT tires

Yes they are... Goodyears I believe...

They have always been all season tires, unless you ordered the 19" HPT option, then you got summer tires.
My understanding is that the standard SH-AWD tire is still 18" all seasons. Not sure if they're Michelin or Goodyear.

The 19's are part of the Advance Package and come only with all seasons. Which by the way have a horrible rating on the TireRack website.

^^^^^ The "advance package" 19" tires are the Goodyear RS-A all-season. They are crappy tires indeed.

The Michelin PS2 tires: upside: are great performance tires!
down side: expensive, short lived (esp if driven hard)

Hang on a little longer. The Michelin Pilot Super Sport is coming out in mid April 2011. It is the PS2 replacement, and is said to have both better dry and better wet traction as well as longer tread life.

You can get whatever you want with your car. But you can't get a Pilot Super Sport because Michelin is not making them in 245/40/19 (yet). You may have to wait years for that size if no auto maker is offering a production vehicle that sports that tire.

Looking over the available sizes for the Mich Pilot SS it appears that an appropriately sized 20" is also not available. This is depressing.

245/40/19 will be available on estimated Apr 11, 2011. But unfortunately 245/35/20 won't be available.

Easy solution - stay with the 18" size, which is available with the Micheline super sport. I guess one can ask the dealer to mount the new tires at delivery for a cost.

Your best & riskiest option: Craigslist. A quick google shows A LOT of people selling the Goodyear RS-A's in various sizes for ~$100/tire brand new. The market might be saturated.
Are you in a big metro area where you can attract a large audience for them? If you go down this road, make sure that the dealer (or tire company you use to put new rubbers on) gives you a receipt listing the mileage on the car when you swapped them out so that you can convince any prospective buyer that they only have xx miles on them.

Good deal? No. These cost $200-250 per tire brand new. Whether they're anywhere near that is another matter entirely...

Thanks. I like the idea and agree with it but my issue would be time. I am supposed to be picking my car up on Saturday. If I bought the new tires now, I don't know how long I would have to sit on the RS-A's before I could recoup my money. I may wind up living with them for a while
Three years goes by and you need new tires, you will have to pay for two sets, the first and then the second. Maybe at that time you want to sell and it would help to have fresh OEM tires or the lease is up and they want to hit you for low tires. You should keep them just for the $1k retail value alone.

I discovered that I was looking at the Michelin UK site.
http://www.michelin.co.uk/tyres/mich...ot-super-sport
However the Michelin US site offers NO sizes.

For me, tire is the most important component of a car. No matter how good the suspension tuning is, or how advance the SH-AWD is, it all comes down to the four patches of rubber tread that are holding the car onto the roads.
I will skimp on everything else, except tires.
OEM tires are almost always crappy, due to cheaper cost and quieter/softer ride for the average car buyers.
For all the cars I have bought, as soon as I picked them up from the car dealerships, I drove the new cars straight to the tire shop to have the OEM tires replaced with the stickiest high performance tires available.
This time around, it is likely the Bridgestone RE-11 or the Michelin Super Sport.

I actually bought my replacement set of Mich PS2s at my Acura dealer - in the past I had priced their tires and they were high. Late last year while in for service just for the heck of it I asked for a quote and - they were very competitive - turns out the get their tires from tirerack.com - even came with free hazard insurance.
