Are 18X9 wheels too wide?

For my 4G TL SH-AWD, should I really stick with 18X8 wheels for the winter tires, or would 18X9 be OK too? Or just too wide and the wheels will stick out too much? Would that really affect the winter tire's traction?

Offset matters most for if they will fit, but if these are for winter tires, you want skinnier tires for better snow performance.

But I have 20x8.5 and its' fine, and I think that other people have 9inch wide as well.

Thanks, petec2010. These wheels that I am looking at are 18x9 with an offset of 45, which I believe is quite similar to the OEM wheels, isn't it? Would it really make the wheels stick out much? So how would the same 245/45-18 tires fit on wider wheels like this?

Thanks again!

Thanks, Italiano! I am glad to hear that the size would fit. Now, would it make a difference that in terms of its snow performance at all, to have a wider rim sitting on the same tire size (245/45018)?

Happy Thanksgiving!

In my opinion front wheel drive alyways pulled better in the snow compared to rear wheel. You have all wheel drive which is the best of both worlds
I dont think you will feel much of a difference
