09 TL struts?

Are these factory struts only bad when they leak oil or do they wear out without showing oil on the strut assembly?

my shocks are worn out and they don't leak. I have 100k miles on my car. I lowered mine on H&R springs about 40k miles ago...

if your car bounces over bumps or feels like it rocks back/forth or see/saws at all.. they are worn out.

They can wear out without leaking oil but you may not notice, since unless they're defective, the change will be subtle over a long period of time. Until you change them, you won't really notice. But once you replace them, you'll likely notice a big difference. I changed mine at about 120K and it brought the car back to life. I also did the sway bar end links, upper control arms, lower ball joints and tie rod ends eventually. But even with only the coil replacements, the difference was substantial. Doing all that other stuff basically made it feel like it did when it was new.

For sure. It should be very solid on bumps. Almost too much so. And body roll should be relatively minimum. I've literally drifted on several occasions and it handles as well as my 3G did with BC coils set on firm. And I'm only FWD.

well, OEM comes to mind...

any "after-market" OEM style shock will be just that...an imitation of OEM.
so your choice... You can use OEM's from the dealer or you can head to www.rockauto.com to pick up an OEM style aftermarket like monroe.

I would pick OEM from the dealer, but then again, I am not you.

www.acuraoemparts.com
www.oemacuraparts.com

these two dealers are great to deal with!

Parts are generally cheap. It's the install that's more expensive. I tackled it myself. Upper control arms (with new bushings) run about $35 each. Sway bar links are about $15 each. Ball joints - $15 each, tie rod end links - $20. Coils were about $160 each.

I changed the front struts and started on the rear but ran into trouble getting the old one out, so I put it back together to wait till I have time. Might change the front end links because I have a slight "clunking" over bummy roads.

My 09 - Left front leaked and eventually started clunking over rough roads so I replaced both fronts with Acura one piece strut assembly.
