Thinking about taking TL into dealership because passenger seat seems loose and shaky
Recently, my passengers have complained of my front passengers seat being uncomfortable. I have long wondered if it was because I noticed when shifting (I have the 6spd) that they seem to move back and forth a little bit even on my smoothest shift. I remain steady in my seat though. I was attributing it to my body realizing when a shift was going to occur and my body tensing up for that brief moment to avoid the tiny "head bob." I hope I haven't lost anybody explaining this yet...
Anyway, I finally did get some "passenger seat" time for about 4 hours on the way back to VA the other week and I was very disappointed in how uncomfortable the seat was. It was a night and day comparrison to the drivers seat because it felt like the seat was attached to the shocks on the car. It bobbled back and forth, shook at the slightest imperfection in the road and generally felt like it was made out of flimsy cardboard. Even applying a small amount of pressure through my legs made the seat-back lean back a little.
I'm going to take it to the dealership next weekend, but I want to know what anybody's take on this problem is. Is a bolt loose perhaps? Is the passengers seat always like this? Any suggestions?

Drifting
Sounds like a loose bolt. My passenger seat is pretty comfortable - no rocking.
Hope they can take care of it for you.

I too have a 6MT (just got it 1 week ago and has 600 miles on it) and I was watching the passenger seat and noticed how it was shaking too!! My 2003 TL never did that. Please let us know what the dealer says/does, cause I know it shouldn't be like that and I'll take mine to get fixed as well.
Had multiple passengers so far but no complaints (probably more scared of the sickening cornering abilities!!)

i had a 2009 sh-awd and the passenger seat was loose. easy test is to wiggle the seat from the headrest. Driver's seat solid...not so for the passenger. It was really noticeable. took to dealer and they replaced the entire seat mount. It helped but still not as solid as drivers seat. My 2010 sh-awd has a slight wiggle in passenger seat. Not as bad as 2009. The 2009 was my first time purchasing a car in its first production year....never again.

SHOOT...an end of 03 production 04 here..and I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! Never again. Not that it's SOOO bad, but there are so many little annoyances that you have to fix and deal with...never had it with any other car. That said, it is also my most rewarding and awesome car.

Prepreludesh,
Two days ago my wife gave me a ride and I noticed the exact same problem: the seat rocks just a little bit, and gear shifting makes it noticeable (we too have the 6-speed). I will point it out to my dealer this coming Sat and will keep you all posted.

I know it's been a year since anyone has posted in this thread, but here I go:
I've been borrowing my Dad's 09 TL SH-AWD Tech and I love it. It's an automatic. I've noticed the problem since when my dad and I go anywhere, I end up in the passenger seat. So since I've got the car I took it to the Acura dealer. They said they tightened up the bolts and that they were as tight as they would go. So I get back into the car and shake the passenger seat from the headrest. It still wiggled. So I went back into the dealer and said that it still wiggled. That's when they took me out to their 2012 Loaners on the back lot and shook the passenger seat and it wiggled, too. I can't imagine paying $40k for a car and a passenger seat wiggle like that.
He said he would call the tech line and see if it is a common problem. I found this thread but not a lot of people have commented. Perhaps I'm too picky? Anyway, if others have the same problem/annoyance or have any solution I'd love to hear it. Maybe a video would be helpful...

i have this shifting in my driver's seat of my MDX. feel it moving when accelerating or braking and i don't weigh much either (the previous owner might have). its on my list of things for the dealer to fix...its a little annoying. i've had no seat issues with my TL. i've only been in the passenger's seat once in the life of the car (shop foreman was driving) and no problems.

What about the backseat, ever sat there? ![Wink](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
TLGirl, if you look at the feet of the seats, there are plastic covers, pop those up and there are 4 bolts...tighten them down and it should be good. IF your whole seat is shifting back and forth, if it's just the back portion, that's something else.
I try and be conscious of not putting all my weight on the top of the back of the seat, picture trying to get your wallet out or cell phone out of some jeans while in the car. That can likely bend the teeth of the mechanism holding the backrest up.

Not a problem...honestly, it's LITERALLY a 5 minute fix. Put seat all the way back, pop off those plastic covers to reveal bolts and repeat process on the back (although the fronts are probably the loose ones). Tighten up a bit, and you're golden.
