Outside ambient temp sensor

I just replaced my ambient temperature sensor, but upon starting my car, it still registers the temperature as -40. Does it need time to reset? Or does the dealership have to reset it?

Thanks!

Can I ask why you replaced it? Mine is consistently off by 5 degrees (too warm). Sorry I can't be of more help with your answer.

If you are seeing -40 you need the dealer.

Completely unaware of this. I shall poke around and see if I can fix it.

I had no idea you could adjust it in the MID!! Mine has been broken for about a year - it hasn't displayed the right temp since last spring. It goes from -40 to over 100, and will count up or down depending on its mood.

I turned my car on this morning, and drove to work, and it displayed a pretty accurate temp! Said it was 38 out, iPhone weather app said it was 40. I'll have to check out my MID and make the adjustment.

I noticed when I replaced the sensor, that wire was coming "apart" - like, you could see the wires underneath the black covering. I'm going to have my dealer see if they can pop some electrical tape on it - or maybe that's why my temp sensor was broken. We'll see!

Thanks for all the help!
