Hood Struts for Acura TL 2009

Will this part 74145-TK4-A02 work on Canadian models?

acura tl parts - Bernardi Parts

The dealership is charging $160 for both parts. I think I am going to get this in the US because it's so cheap and ship it to my US in-laws.

yes, unless acura changed the hood for the canadian model, it will work.

And don't feel bad about spending money on new hood struts. My '99 TL hood slammed shut on my left hand and trapped my fingers in a hood crease from a previous accident. I was stuck there for a hour until my wife (now ex) came home. LUCKY! No hood crease=lost fingers for me.

I got HQ to warranty my hood struts. Told them i didn't wanna get sued if the hood fell on my mech, or even their mechs when i take it into the dealer.

The new ones they put on lifts the hood on it's own past 6-8". before it would only hold it up. Not sure if they changed the part or not, i know it's a fairly common complaint.

Had mine replaced couple of days ago under the extended warranty I'd bought with the car. Initially, they said they'd only cover one hood strut. After going back to them and asking why they agreed to cover both .

off topic but i was at the dealer and over heard the SA talking to acura client services about covering a deductible of $500 for a second trial service.. the story was the customer transmission failed and she had to pay a $5oo dollar deductible for what idk anyway when the transmission came, a part assembly on the trans was bad and faulty so client services said if we send another trans she was have to pay a second $500 which is crazy because it's their fault smh acura service is crazy when it comes to getting warranty.

My hood struts just gave out after only 4 years (hood would not stay open). My OEM struts were manufactured by Stabilus. Even though the Stabilus struts only lasted 4 years the only aftermarket brand I could find that had a lifetime warranty was Stabilus sold by O'Reilly. Installed last week in about 1-2 minutes each. They work fine.

Thanks Reorge, ordered those stabilus replacements and they are great. Hopefully they last longer than my OEM ones.

You're welcome. If they don't last they are under warranty for life.

That's funny Reorge! I got my fingers caught in the mechanism for the hood locking mechanism once too. I was trying to access it through the grill on my wife's Camry.
Had to wait about 20 minutes until my neighbour came by so he could open the door and pull the lever to open the hood! Might have been there overnight otherwise!
A friend of mine got his hand caught in the screen door on an RV. They had to close the door fully and squish his fingers further to get it to release!
Life's embarrassing moments.
