Our 09 TL had it's battery die. It's dash hole is also no longer working and won't let the key insert. So we got a new battery, and she runs while the key is inside, but the car thinks there is a key inside that slot when there isn't. I can't insert the key back in as it gets stopped. Both remotes do not work for locking and unlocking. When I press the button on the outside it thinks there is a key in the car so it won't lock! We don't have the time this week to drop it off. Any ideas of a easy way to fix this?

Did you check the manual? I thought there is a way to reset the remote by holding the buttons on the key fob down...Might be worth trying to go through the manual. I know its not what you wanted to hear but its something

This may have not been the best way to do it, but it was my last resort even after looking at the manual.

I checked the switches in the globe box and both were on. So I was like well it thinks there is a key in that slot. So I jammed the key back in. (I know this isn't good). Once I did that, and turned the car back off it released the key normally. After that it all worked again. Ugh.

Hey Pimpin-TL.......THANK YOU!!! I drove the wife's TL (which hardly ever is done) well when I returned, I did not put it in park when I turned it off. Consequently battery died. 1st lesson learned. I did have the code for Nav system . However the fobs did not work, could not, in all the searches and reading come up with a good solution. "Until" I read your post of "jamming it in" WORKED!! Thanks again
