Headlights stay on in "Auto" after dealer replaced airbag
Hello everyone. I have to say this is a great site that has given me a lot of great information for the 4 years since I bought my 2012 TL. Now I have a problem that I couldn't find an answer to by searching, so I figured I would sign up and ask the question.
I took my car to the dealer a couple of weeks ago to have the airbag replaced (Takata recall) and now I noticed that with my headlight switch in the Auto position, they stay on whether it is day or night. I am also a little puzzled about the headlight and wiper switches, because they are not lighting up with the other dash lights. I noticed this morning when it was dark that they were not lit up, but I can't honestly remember if they used to light up or not? It seems that when it was dark out they would be lit so you could see the controls, but I just don't remember.
Any idea what would cause this? I am thinking that when they replaced the airbag they left something unplugged, but I figured I would check here before taking anything apart.
Thanks!

Me thinks they either damaged or forgot to plug in the sunbeam sensor: 80510-SDA-A41
SENSOR ASSY., SUN BEAM
As such the car always thinks its night, and lights stay on.

That's the part I don't remember.... everything else lights up, I don't know why they wouldn't. I just can't remember if they did. With no lights, if you weren't familiar with the car, I don't know how you would know where the wiper and headlight switches were
Is the plug for the sunbeam sensor in the steering column where they could have done something to it when replacing the airbag?

I think they only replaced the driver side airbag.
I'm confused, are you trying to be helpful? You don't think that something lights up in most vehicles where the headlight switch is?
