Freezing cold in cup holder and armrest storage areas
I have a 09 TL-SHAWD. I noticed that the cup holder and the storage area under the central armrest are badly insulated. It is freezing cold during the winter time. Is it a common issue? Does anyone have the same issue?

The vents for the rear go under the cup holders. On the 3G which had aluminum it would be ice cold... depending on your climate control settings the ambient air around the center console will always heat or cool the plastic...
Thermodynamics...
In all of my cars I've sound deadened them after purchase. Depending on the routing of the HVAC ducting I sometimes opt to wrap the ducting to the rear floor, or rear center vents to improve the efficiency...

lol i used to love the freezing feeling of the aluminum in the summer time with the a/c blasting and the rear vent open in the 3rd gen, i haven't noticed it as much in the 4th gen, kind of miss it, but the vent is routed under the center console, maybe try closing the rear vent slightly, and cranking the heat up...the restriction at the rear vent should cause a pressure difference in the vent piping and cause it to heat up ??
