Doing a 3x3 atf flush, about the washer

Will be doing a 3x3 atf flush cycle

staring this Saturday along with an overdue engine oil change. Will be driving the car one week between the flushes

quick question about the washer

will be buying a new one...

should I;

a. Install in on the first atf change

b. Install it until the 3rd

c. Buy 3 and install a new one each time?

d. Research all threads and find answer there??(lol)

thanks ahead of time

also any pointers will help

will be using Acura dw-1 from local dealership

will be adding 3 quarts and then measuring to top off if needed

will be following a video on YouTube that looks very detailed

2012 Acura tl tech with 86,xxx miles. Bought car 3 months ago

have been getting very bad rpm surge so want to rule out atf before pursuing TC issue

thanks in advance

FWIW: Have performed many 3X3 transmission fluid drain and refills, on my 2003 TLS. I always used the same crush washer, until the last D&R. I believe the torque spec., is 29 lbs. I think, as long as you don't OVER-TORQUE, the drain bolt, and damage the crush washer, you should be fine re-using it a couple of times. Of course, it's always wise, to check it for leaks, immediately after, and than again, a day or two after the service, just to be sure. Even when installing a new crush washer, it's always a good idea, to check and double check, to insure a proper seal.

Yeah, just use a new one after all three.

I also have a 2012 Tech and had a bit of an RPM surge problem in the beginning. As well as some tach hunting here and there. All of that went away when I had the software update. If you're not sure if it's been done, and you haven't had it done yourself, get into the dealer and have it done ASAP. I had it done when I purchased the car at 60K miles. I'm at 150K now and it still runs like a clock. I do a drain and fill every 10K miles or so. It's a bit of overkill but I don't trust Honda transmissions any further than I can throw them.

You may want to change the ATF filter as well. It's part 3 in this diagram:

https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/...0-plr-003.html

You can get it cheaper on Amazon or eBay. It's part 25430 PLR 003. It's not much fun to replace since you have to remove the battery and battery tray. But at your mileage, it might be a good idea.
