Dashboard lit up like a Christmas Tree
Well, last week the weather got better and as such I brought our Motorcycles out of the shed and as such the TL was displaced from the garage. Well she apparently does not like that.
So this morning I pushed the start button and it did not want to start but eventually did. But the yellow engine light, SHAWD light, hill brake assist light, emissions light and power steering light stayed on and the power steering was not working. I contemplated having it towed but drove it anyway and half way up the street the power steering began to work but the lights stayed on. The car also hesitated when accelerating @ 80 KMH.
Took it in to the Dealer and get this, it was the battery. Damn thing is less than 3 years old and past the warranty.
Better than the nightmare I anticipated. (visions of my 2002 TL tranny problems).

its not your fault.. the oem battery just sucks.. we all know that.. and its a general problem.. i have had mine replaced once and it was during the first two months of ownership.

BLEXV6...I thought the battery was warrantied for 4 years and unlimited mileage? As others have stated, put a battery trickle charger on it, that is what I use on my TL and it works amazingly!! I bought a CTEK3300 at Canadian Tire but they don't carry it anymore but they have a replacement device that seems well built

Three Wheelin'
A battery tender will most likely extend the battery's life to some extent but as mentioned the OEM Acura batteries are terrible. I have had 4 TL's in the past 13 years and have yet to see one go more than 3 years before needing replacement. My current TL is 2 1/2 years old and I've got my fingers crossed that I can get this one to lease-end in November.

I have a 2011 TL that has already had the battery replaced (under warranty). When the car was about 1 year old it was in for routine service and during the inspection they noticed the battery levels were very low. The dealer mentioned there was a problem with the battery and they were replacing it for no charge.

That one is a 3.5A device. There's also an 1.1A device.
For trickle-charging to keep the battery voltage constantly topped up, the cheaper 1.1A unit is more than sufficient.

Burning Brakes
I had mine replaced once. then I got an aftermarket sound system and upgraded to optima yellowtop. Now I can keep the radio on for a while without fear of the car dying. I honestly think that the best way to go is to replace the battery and get rid of the problem all together. Thats just my $0.02
