Car wouldn't turn off
Hey. I have a 2009 TL AWD tech. I was driving today and the sh-awd, vsa, and abs light all came on at the same time. I've had the same kind of issue in the past on a honda and figured it was probably a sensor..no biggy. I stopped the car and tried to turn it off by pressing the start stop button and the car wouldn't turn off...I drove right over to the dealer and the car sat for 3 minutes and shut off on its own. The dealer ran the codes and said the car has a bad abs sensor but no codes or ideas why the car wouldn't turn off. Any ideas?? I'm assuming the two issues must be related but bad abs sensor affecting the car turning off? Anyone heard of this? Thanks.

There is a safety override for the start/stop button. Hold the button down for the greater of 3 seconds and the car should shut down...

Got the car back and everything is fine. Must have been related to the sensor issue even though it doesn't make sense..who knows...Thanks for the info on pressing the button for 3 seconds.

same thing happened to me a few days back. did you go through a storm or hit some puddles before the lights went on? i had all 3 lights come on AND my car wouldn't turn off. AND holding stop + brake pedal for 3+ seconds didn't do anything. like you, it shut off after like 15 minutes. did the dealership give any information what happened? i took it to dealership they cleared the messages and they told me no issues...

I could start my car when the parking lights or auto lights were ON without stepping on the brake pedal and the SH-AWD, VSA, HSA would all activate. Although my part is aftermarket, your OEM tail lamps could be malfunctioning?
There's also a TSB out for some faulty brake light switches.
