Exclamation Busted Hose question

We have a busted hose on our 2010 TL. I don't know what the hose is for so I'm not sure how severe this really is. I'm stuck in the mountains at the moment with a 14 hour drive ahead of me. Denver is the closest acura dealer and that is about 1.5 hours away.

Help please.

looks like apart of the A/C condenser.

are you leaking any coolant?
if not leaking coolant, you're okay.

if leaking coolant, monitor the temperature gauge inside the car.

remember, if the car over heats, turn it off immediately.

I never saw any fluid come out of the car. There are no puddles. When the hose busted, there was a cloud of steam (or something similar) that shot out. The temperature was around 4 degrees when it happened.

I agree with justnspace: I think it's your ac line that broke off the condenser:

The steam you saw coming out of the engine bay is probably refrigerant from the busted AC line. If so, you should be able to drive the car out of the mountains and to the dealership/repair shop to get it looked at. You won't have AC, but I don't think you'll miss it since it's 4 degrees outside.

Just in case, take a look at your radiator reservoir. If a radiator hose was busted, the coolant in your reservoir should have moved to the radiator to make up for the lost coolant (meaning the reservoir is empty). If you see fluid in the reservoir, you should be ok. If you are able, pack/buy a gallon of radiator fluid for the drive. Otherwise, a couple gallons of water is better than nothing in the event your radiator overheats. Keep an eye on the temperature gauge like justnspace suggests.

Finally, here is the acura service manual in case you need to look up any more issues with your car. Art unique was kind enough to share it with the forum:

Good luck

Definitely a refrigerant line for the AC. The only problem is you won't have defrost until you get it repaired. Were you driving when this happened? I wonder if something got wedged in there and broke the line.

No, I wasn't driving when it happened. And thankfully, the hose was the only damage. Even better, we were able to make it all the way home.
Any idea how much this repair will cost? The house shouldn't be too expensive, I'd imagine. But the refilling of refrigerant and all the work with the ac system might cost a bit more.
