Anyone still have oil consumption after piston replacement?
I recently got an estimate from my dealer to have the pistons replaced on my 2011 TL, and was wondering if anyone here has had the replacement done and is still burning oil.

The inconvenient truth
Generally speaking I think it fixes the problem. Sure it could come back after 100000 miles so only time will tell. But there's a oil consumption thread that we have discussed this in detail you can scroll through. Almost everyone has said it's fixed and not returned including myself. But for $6500 you can instead change your oil often and add when needed.

When I had the repair done last year under the extended warranty I asked the service rep how much the repair would cost if it wasn't a warranty repair and he also said about $6500.

Nope. I got a warranty short block replacement at 95k miles in 2016. Currently at about 170k, and I don't even need to top off my oil levels between change intervals.
I still frequently check the dipstick, but the new piston rings are still working well.

I had it done a couple of years ago. I haven't put that many miles on the car, but oil consumption seems solved and the car actually runs better and gets better mpg. I second the suggestion to do more frequent oil changes. I have been doing mine at 5K miles at the advice of my service advisor when the car was relatively new and I first noticed some oil consumption (that seemed to accelerate as the miles went past 5k on an oil change cycle.
