I just bought a 2012 TL SH-AWD with 3.7 engine. It has 65K miles and is in amazingly good condition. My only complaint is the exhaust noise. I actually sounds great but between 2-3K RPM during acceleration it hurts the ears. You literally can not hear the person next to you talking. I'm going to take it into a muffler shop but I figured I'd ask here if this is normal, common, or if there really is an issue.

It shouldn't be that loud, stock, but a lot of people with the fancy version of the car put on aftermarket exhausts or hollowed out their catalytic converters because they wanted more noise and/or power. So it might be intentional and nothing is technically "wrong."

Yeah that's kind of that I was thinking too but there we're no other mods to the car. Not even tinted windows. LOL. Taking it to muffler shop tomorrow. I'll post the findings. Thanks.

I remember before I moded my exhaust that between 2-3k rpm it would briefly hit a certain pitch that was a little loud or more noticeable to the ears.

Not normal. There may be an exhaust leak or the catalytic converter has been tampered.
