Unhappy 2012 TL - AC Auto Mode Display Indicator Faulty?

Just recently updated my '06 TL to a '12 TL and believe I have an issue with the A/C but would like a second opinion from the forum here. It's related to the A/C display indicators which I think is showing incorrect information when I am in Auto mode for the passenger.

Here are the scenarios:

I have both passenger and driver on AUTO mode at 72.
I decide to manually override and increase the fan speed.
(The Drivers side AUTO indicator disappers - this is what I expect)
(The Passengers side AUTO indicator stays on - this seems wrong).

When I manually change the fan speed, it impacts the air flow for both passenger and driver...and in my 06...it would drop BOTH sides out of AUTO. This is what I would expect.

Other scenario:

I have both passenger and driver on AUTO mode at 72.
I decide to turn on the recycled air function.
(The Drivers side AUTO indicator disappers - this is what I expect)
(The Passengers side AUTO indicator says on - this seems wrong).

Basically the AUTO indicator seems to stay on for the passenger regardless of what the drivers side mode is. The only way that the AUTO lite for the passenger disappears is if I click on the Mode button and change the airflow pattern (i.e. all feet, feet and dash, etc.)

Other notes:

The sync button in both of these situations is not on.

The AC seems to be functioning properly.....it just is the indicator lights that I think are not correct. Would appreciate somebody testing this out and lettimg me know if this is just a quirk of the 2012...if there is some difference between my '06 and '12 that I fail to grasp etc.

Thanks in advance.

my 09 TL Tech works the same way. noticed that also but figured it was correct and that there was some reason for it.

When the "sync" button is off, whatever you do to the driver side A/C control won't get duplicated or synchronized to the passenger side.

Thanks...I realize this...however...this is not the issue.

It is my understanding that "half" the car can not be on Auto while the other half is not. You can have different temperatures...but the auto function can not only be on the passenger while I am adjusting fan speed for the driver....cause the fan speed impacts both sides.
