I have been having this problem for the past couple of days. When i shut the trunk it automatically opens up immediately and the car beeps 3 times (the same beep that we hear when locking the car, but 3 rapid beeps). When i start the car and try to bang the boot a couple of times it stays shut.

I am not sure what is causing the problem. It seems like maybe the trunk door release button on the boot is stuck or maybe an electrical issue.

I am planning to take the car to Acura, before that wanted to check if someone else has had this problem before and if there is a DIY fix available.

 

It does this when it senses the key fob inside the car or inside the trunk. You sure your spare key isn't in the car?

 

Oh My God!!! you are so right.... i think i have had the spare key in my bag for the past couple of days... thats when the problem started... i will remove the key and try it after work... Thanks a million "mynameisjacob"

Acuras are pretty smart. I found out the car does this when I tried to lock myself inside the trunk (to test trunk LED swap).

 

happens...I at times forget my key fob in my backpack when I close the trunk. It's a nice idiot proof feature.

I tested this when I first bought my car... it is a neat safety feature... I only wish the car would shut off if you drive off without the fob! I tested that too, my friend drove off without any issues, he just needed to make sure he didn't shut the car off.

 

lol... i am sure of it... imagine if i had walked in to a repair shop trying to explain the problem to them... that would have been fun for them!!!

and your dealer didnt explain to you what the features were?

 

my question is how far can you drive without the key fob in the car? if this is not a factor but once you shut the car off you cannot restart it?
