Question 2009 TL remote issues.....a list!

Ok, I am not sure where to start here......so I will just throw all the issues out there. Just got this car as a cert pre owned last year. My wife has owned a TL for the last 6 years and no issues till this one. First, her remote sucks the life out of batteries. Literally.... a new battery has to be installed every month! Second, it works half the time unlocking the doors, half the time it doesn't. We loved the feature of the auto unlock when you get close with your key, but it started getting sketchy too! Half the time it works, half the time it doesn't. Third, you guessed it....half the time the keyless start works, half the time it doesn't. Says it can not detect key when you are sitting in the car with the key in hand! Does anyone have any advice on a fix? I am about ready to drive this car into a quarry!

Is it still under warranty? If so, what does the dealer have to say about it?

The classic response that.....oh that's not covered under the warranty. If you want us to diagnose it we will charge $75 to start with.

Did you try the other remote? Same issue?
And if even the remote start causes problems, then it is the car, not the remote.

And I consider the key part of the drivetrain, because w/o key you can't drive.
Especially after 1year.

Or talk to a different person there.
Otherwise call ACURA Customer Relations.

FYI, I'm having the exact same issues with one of my fobs. I've had the car since 09, and this has only been happening for the last few months. I haven't had a chance to take it to the dealer.

Yeh, try the other remote. It is highly likely that your wife's remote is bad.

Is it a 3rd party warranty?

I'm starting to have that issue on my key fob on my 2012. While the engine is running and my key fob in my pocket, my gf would leave the passenger front door and the MID shows up KEY NOT DETECT. Then I pull out my key from my pocket and insert into the slot then it works. It happens to me twice this week. I haven't tried on my other set of Key Fob yet. I assume it was a battery issue. Will put in new battery this weekend or I'll just call my tech guy.
