Thanks man! I went with 255/35/20 as opposed to the standard 245/35/20. I wanted a bit more rubber on the road for the SH-AWD since I was downgrading from sticky summer tires. It also has a slightly bigger sidewall (@ 3.5mm) which helps fill in the wheel well a bit more. I did have to roll my rear fenders though (rims are +35 offset).

I really like the look of the beefier tires...even if it's not much more beef

Holy Tape Batman!... I give you the 100% most tape/ Drop cloths used to paint calipers award!... They look good but wow... I just use a small peice of cardboard and hand hold it and let the pads wear the paint off the rotors they cut a perfect line in the paint... only takes like 3-4 miles...

 

Haha ucf_bronco you weren't messing around! Its amazing how much better they look without the rusty rotors!

 

He left that top edge though.. gotta fix that..

I didn't want to worry about overspray, and I've taken shortcuts in the past that have come back to bite me...so this time I decided to err on the side of caution. Fortunately I am happy with the results and I actually enjoyed the process.

Yeah, I didn't realize it until I was done and looking at the final results. At that point I was thinking f*ck it! It's not too noticeable so I'm gonna leave it for now. At least until I upgrade to drilled / slotted rotors at some point in the future.

 

That was one helluva masking job!

I think it took me @ 1.5-2 hours for all prep work (taping / covering, getting car up on jack stands, removing wheels). Once I got the tape done on the first rotor it went pretty quick.

Yes, it's a known issue...not only the hood but all metal painted parts.

^^^ Thanks man! I'm definitely risk averse, so I'd rather put in the time and effort up front to save it on the back end.

Not to mention I'm comfortable covering a car (haha, who isn't!) but not so much when it comes to attempting to remove overspray.

 

I'm just curious if anyone else that has the OEM aero kit does this...



After washing my car the water drains down and leaves spots in these areas so rather than repeatedly wiping them down I put pieces of paper towel in there to soak it up...works like a charm!

Thanks! That's just my personality type. I'm always trying to find ways to make processes more efficient. That plus the fact I have OCD when it comes to my car means this was a no brainer

I used to use my leaf blower to get most of the water off the car before drying, but now I just use a chamois immediately followed by a towel. I never tried the blower in the door jams though...good idea!

The TL door frame/skin isn't welded shut so yes, when I wash my car water slowly drains from there for a good 10-15 min after washing. After I dry most the exterior, I open all four doors and allow the water to drain. By the time I'm putting on tire shine all the water has been drained.

 

Mine seems to take a bit longer to drain. I take much longer to dry my car than wash but even after the full detail I would still find water drops on the side skirts. I do the same with keeping my doors open for while but it always seemed to keep leaking once I shut them.

 

My biggest gripe while drying is that as soon as I go 30mph or more whatever water was behind the mirrors sprays onto both the front and rears doors.

I just started a new habit with my last wash and anytime I drive it within a few hours of washing I stop at the front of my neighborhood and dry off the doors and hood. Not only do I get the drips from the mirrors but I also get water flying up from the front and onto the hood...no matter how good I dry it.

 

I know what you guys mean i get out my air compressor and blow out my mirrors,door jambs,window moldings,trunk spoiler,tail lights and pretty much the whole car.

 

I like your paper towel idea.

 

I use a car dryer. 1/2 the time and leaves it spotless.

Hey I like your car, looks good. I just got a 2010 WDP with Tech Package and was looking at some XO Miami's/Berlins. Was wondering if you could comment on the quality of your XO Wheels. I just found the company recently.

 

XO is actually relatively new to the scene. They've been a distributor for a while but decided not long ago to make their own line.

I've been very happy with the rims. The quality seems top notch (though they haven't had any "real" tests yet; i.e. pothole) and they look great. The weight of the 20's is close to OEM 19's, as I weighed the rims and tires immediately after weighing my stockers and they were within a pound or two of each other.

One of the cool features, which I understand is not common, is that you can swap out the lip. Their objective was to allow the customer to customize the setup as they have different colors but I find it cool because if you ever damage one, the lip could be replaced instead of just repaired.

One thing to note is that they don't produce all the colors that their site shows. I wanted my XO Paris in silver on silver but they were not making them at the time. Fortunately once I saw the silver on black on my car I loved it so it didn't matter (when shopping, the cars I saw online were either red or white so it didn't flow well IMO).

All in all I recommend the brand and if I could do it again, I would make the same decision...though I'd probably go staggered with a deep concave in the rear.

I do something about that but mine covers water from the mirrors headlights etc... after I dry the car I drive it around the block get it up to about 50 mph bring it back to the house 3-4 min drive and redry the door jams and where the water blows out... solves all the drip issues... just don't send Matt on that drive he's gone for 20 minutes and comes back with the dips all dry and spotted... LoL
