Textured plastic below rear bumper

So, I bought my 2013 TL SH-AWD with 2800 miles 2 months ago. I got rear ended a couple weeks ago which resulted in some minor bumper damage. While the care was in the shop I asked them to sand and paint that ugly textured piece below the pumper between the exhaust pipes. I really like how it came out.

I like it, but I can't say I ever noticed it before and I wonder if it will chip and discolor from rocks/exhaust.

I only noticed it when I got some wax on it and it got a white streak on it. Every time I saw the back of my car all I kept seeing was that part and it kept bugging me. They only charged me $100 to sand, paint, and apply clear. I am pretty sure no one will notice and appreciate this small detail except me....but I am good with that.

Your car bro, you do you! If you like it, good enough and good point on the wax, that stuff drives me nuts.

Small detail or not, if it does not bug you anymore then it's money well spent. Personally, I think
it's a great idea.

Is that a typo, or for real?

The 2800 miles? That is for real. They used it as a demo and left it on the back lot while they were waiting for the airbags.I am up to almost 7000 miles now.

nah. i like it better when its that plastic look.. gives the rear more contrast than just one solid paint color.

I also like the contrast. But on my black TL it already blended and and didn't give much contrast. Plus I can't seem to wax the car without getting the white streaks on the plastic from the wax.

If I had any color other than black I would have left it alone or still had it painted black to keep the contrast.
