Post pics of your Color Matched Painted Grill!

Post up some pics of your "color matched" painted grille. I've seen post of some bo bo mismatch stuff and flat black but I've yet to see anyone actually do it right. Planning on doing my PMM 09 but don't know if i want to do the entire grille or just do the outer surround... Show me whatcha got and help me decide!...

I would prefer to see several examples in one place as well, rather than trying to search and not being able to compare them "side-by-side".

I am considering doing something, also, but not sure what I want to do, yet.

Good idea on the post, OP.

Here is mine. It's wrapped in vinyl...matte black on the outside piece and gloss black on the inside. As you can see I also painted the mesh plastic piece silver.

I REALLY like the matte / gloss combination.

UCF, Sorry man but thats BoBo I'm not a flat black fan at all... That looks like the grill from a f150 work truck with rubber floors it's so low the don't even put carpet in them...

LMAO, bobo huh? I didn't realize anyone still used that term.

I'm not a huge fan of flat black either, which is why I only did the outer portion. It's actually similar to the stock look. Have you noticed how there are two different finishes on those pieces?

I'm not a fan of the Camry look so I tried something different. You're the first to compare it to a "f150 work truck with rubber floors it's so low the don't even put carpet in them", and I'm sure you'll be the last. Just like you'll probably be the last person I ever see refer to something as bobo.

Love this look!! You should paint/wrap your fog surrounds?

Thanks man! I agree...I plan to eventually paint the fog surrounds CBP. I'll probably do it when I upgrade to HID fogs.

My grill was painted by Nexson (from Acurazine). So far his paint matches color the best

Thanks Nexson

Yeah you're right no one does use that term anymore but I had to bring it back for that =-) Nothing personal just not my taste at all...

Hi guys.can someone comment on how good the paint can hold on to the chrome grill?I have a WDP and really want to get my grill and rear trim color matched.
Also,how much will it cost?I'm from Ontario,Canada.

Sooo Love the Ronjon grill but cost is way over my head.
Thanks

Are you trying to paint the stock grille that's brushed? or the OEM optional accessory "Chrome" grille? If it's just the OEM brushed plastic... Nexson is the man on that it's a certian primer that makes it stick...

We have a prototype grille that works, 50% off, just the frame and mesh, no bar. You could even do a floating emblem.

That is just a chrome/aluminum finish over plastic. It is a thick finish so it can be sanded as if it was metal, so I cut it all down with 80 grit, and epoxy primer it all. After the epoxy primer and base/clear, it will essentially hold up like the rest of the car. If a rock hits it, it will have a cushion from the epoxy under it, but a good enough rock can chip it, just like the bumper. Nothing is bullet proof.

Lovin this! Hopefully get somethin similar done to mine in the near future. Especially the silver mesh. Saves the front end from being too blacked out

I am surprised more people are not doing it this way, I love the fact that it looks like as if it was factory, not vulgar and bold like the original grill and not completely dissolved as it is when its completely painted over. Perfect.

It does look like the F150 work trucks grill. The flat makes the car look cheap. Sorry.

You need to black out the headlights bad.

No need to apologize, everyone's entitled to their opinion. I probably should've taken the same stance with the OP's comment.

I would tend to agree if both pieces were matte but there's more gloss so it's not very noticeable (probably more so in pics). Either way I love the way it looks and am a fan of the different finishes.

I've gone back and forth with blacking out the headlights. I like the contrast and them being silver is a big part of why I painted the mesh silver. I like the blacked out headlights on lighter colors like white or silver...still undecided on CBP though.

Thanks man I can't take any props on this one that was all the wife. I was leaning to painting the entire grille she wanted to do this to look more subtle like the 12's so I sent it to Brian and he made the Magic happen. It did come out great though... Really happy with the outcome and Brian's paint work..

and boy did ya'll pull a thread from the dead and bring it back... LoL

Here's a more recent pic showing the Grille..
