New Sport Grille surround with Painted Beak.

Here are some picks. Sorry car is dirty, but I was excited to share. The all Chrome was over the top for me. I put my painted beak on and man I really love it. I have plans to do the headlights body color so it should really set it off. Let me know what you guys think.

Front looks good (although not as good as a RJ but I'm biased).

The rear head-on shot isn't as nice because the chrome strip really stands out (esp. since the tailights are tinted).....I think you're better off just painting it the body color.

I didnt get a good pic of the rear. Looks great in person. Never know might have my guy paint my OEM piece when he's painting some other things just to see what it looks like. The perks of sending him a ton of biz!

Nice combo with the painted beak in the front. Wonder how the all chrome would look on my WPD. Did you install it yourself and , if so, how difficult was it?

I really like the front end. In my opinion it's the best one I have seen - I know eveyone has their own tastes. Great job!

My dealer here has been doing half their TL's grills like this. They sell very well. The TL's grill is the only one with the family trait that looks over sized for the body. The RL and TSX look great to me. MDX even more but the TL looks as if it's "buck toothed" lol.

I think the front looks great. The back looks good because it ties in with the front chrome surround.

Ya how much of a pain was it to take off the surround?

I think the all chrome would stick out too much, but if you did the same as melrob1 did with the beak painted white and the chrome surround would look great along with the chrome tail pc.

I think the all Chrome would look good on black and the best on the WDP. We do lots of grills mainly strut on BMW, Rover, Mercedes, and cadi's. Chrome always looks the best on white vehicles.

As for the install it took me 1.5 hours. However it could have been less if I would have just taken off the bumper. I decided to remove the top bolts from the grille and reach in and remove the hex nuts holding on the beak. Once the beak was off I removed the clips on the bottom with a panel tool. THe biggest problem doing it this way is getting the clips on the very bottom back in. So I DO NOT suggest you do it this way. Taking the bumper off is much easier. Keep in mind I did this in our shop and we ahev all the right tools.

Guys keep in mind I have the OEM surround and the After market CHrome beak left over if anyone needs those items let me know. It woudl be interesting to see someone paint the surround body color and use the blakc chrome beak.

Wow - looks great!

PM me if you're interested in selling the black chrome beak or your old surround - I want to paint a surround and leave the beak shiny.

Very nice, but I would have painted the whole Bloody beak, but it looks better than the original.

You noticed. They just got theirs. My wifes is unique. I tinted the tails, painted all the grey bumpers body color, and front is tinted. Still gets confusing when I see it turning the corner! LOL!

Looks good, I have an Ebony black TL and have the tailights blacked out but not the front. Thinking of painting it too or changing the grill entirely!

Looks Great!

Nothing. Sorry! I send A LOT of biz to to my paint guy. He normally charges me 120.00 for customerscars. Includes Tails and two deflectors or brakes. They have to sand them, paint, and clear.

just to clarify, they just painted the outside of the taillight plastic correct? so if i went to my body shop, what exactly would i have to ask them to do to make my tails and reflectors look like yours?

Yes they are painted on the outside. They first have do a light sanding, then paint with a really thined out candy black paint, then they have to clear coat. If the painter has a booth with heat the entire proccess should not take longer than 3 hours including dry time.

Keep in mind I wanted to go pretty light so they really had to thin out the candy paint. The reason candy paint is used is because it still allows the light to go through.

everything looks great. nicely done. converting/painting the fog light plastic from gray to black should be a law. it's no less than 100x better-looking in black.

Looks great Rob. Haven't seen you in a while since Ari got transfered. Hope all has been well with you. Feel free to bring it by Discount so I can see it in person.

On a side note, I need to talk to you about doing some sort of iPod and HD radio integration on my wifey's TL.

I have the same sport grille on my WDP and am thinking to do the same thing as you did but in WDP

Just a question - is that material easy to paint by a body shop and will it actually stay good and stick to the grille or will it eventually start to chip/crack ??

Many people have painted with no problem. I havent had and issue, but I also put clear bra material on it.

Ive been waiting for someone to do it on the WDP. I think it would be one of the best looks out there!

The thing is with the WDP I like the sport grille and don't mind it, flows really nice with the WDP, all the chrome on the car, and my 20" chromies.

I want to try it, but just wondering if I will like it.

Maybe I can take a few headshots of my car and someone can photoshop it to WDP grill like yours to get an idea of how it may look.
